Cancer was listed as a qualifying condition by 4.04% of Michigan’s medical marijuana program registrants in Fiscal Year 2014; in FY 2015 that number jumped to 4.47%, a 10.6% increase.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) issued the report titled, ‘Medical Marihuana Act Statistical Report For Fiscal Year 2015- on January 4, 2016, then issued an amended version on January 15. The report details the nature of the participants in the medical marijuana program.

The same document that lists ailments and illnesses reports total patient registrations. 182,091 Michigan citizens are registered with the medical marijuana program as patients, with an additional 34,269 registered as caregivers. There are 8,140 individuals using cannabis under recommendation of their licensed physician for cancer treatment in Michigan.

The other illness seeing significant increase in enrollment numbers during FY 2015 was Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD was added to the medical marijuana program as a named condition in March 2014, which is halfway through the FY 2014 reporting period and resulted in a low enrollment number for its first year on record. The ailment was listed in only 0.38% of patients in 2014, but the number jumped 750% to 2.97% of all patients in FY 2015.

Among the named conditions maintaining relatively unchanged patient percentages in the FY 2015 Report are nail patella; Hepatitis C; glaucoma; Chron’s Disease; ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease; Alzheimer’s Disease and AIDS/HIV.

12% fewer registrants reported wasting syndrome as one of their qualifying conditions, and a similar reductions was seen in cachexia patients as well.

The numbers reflected on the LARA report add up to more than 100% because patients are allowed to report more than one illness on their registration form, and each ailment is recorded and reported. One patient could report that they suffer from severe and chronic pain from cancer with severe nausea from the chemotherapy, and each of those three ailments would be recorded in the LARA database.

There are four categories of generalized but severe ailments allowed under the MMMA. The percentage of people reporting seizures, including epilepsy, on their registration forms remained stable from 2014 to 2015 (2.12%), as did those suffering from severe nausea (8.95%), severe and persistent muscle spasms (23.39%) and severe and chronic pain (93%).

Hep C runs rampant in my state and I know ppl w/it and they say certain strains w/anti-inflammatory properties help them especially w/high cbd’s. Btw, there’s a link below for High Supply Seeds. Does anybody out there know if they ship to the U.S. cus they have great deals. Just curious. Even though it’s affiliated w/this blog doesn’t mean squat to me, I’m a skeptic about seed banks cus some just take your money whether they ship to your country or not and say it’s your responsibility if they get seized. That’s usually code for you got ripped off. Thanks and PLEASE REPLY. I desperately need to make my own medicine and can’t afford most companies.

I try to use a low THC @4-6% with a high CBD, similar to a Harlequin type strain. Unfortunately my Home Depot Parking Lot pharmacist does not take special orders. All of everyone he serves wants the high end THC. I find that the low THC w/ high CBD works well with the inflammation and body functions. Along with a great sense of wellbeing. It’s helps to keep my mind off of the Gloom and Doom of Hep. C ( it’s not pretty). My Dr. knows, but it’s never discussed (Florida). Just the normal wink and nod and that’s at the Mayo Clinic In Jax. Cant grow my own do to housing constraints. I can get it when I go to NYC were their are many servers that grow medical strains. They have a clear cut cliental, like myself and many with MS and cancer, etc. I also found that quite a few home care nurses in Florida and NYC are an excellent source. Just to add this Dr. wrote me an Rx for MARINOL, just to cover any U-Tox tests. FYI , It shows up different from THC/CBD, but automatically falls into a toss out of the test.

I understand exactly what you’re going through HCV, I have been through the treatment for my liver as well and rose meds tore my guts and immunity system apart and all I looked forward to was smoking my meds, my pit bull and sleep. I had to put my conscience on the sidelines and go black market but like you said your average go to guy doesn’t carry medical strains. I started making my own medicine after the treatments and haven’t looked back and wont. It’s inhumane to charge big money for any type of meds especially one that grows almost anywhere. If you are mobile and can get some low thc/high cbd seeds-pop’em in the ground and all the info you need is on the internet, you tube, free e-books, he’ll this blog has growing links below. It’s not as hard as people think and you will save tons o cash! Try auto flowering DVD crew strains, they virtually grow themselves and being in a sunny, warm state doesn’t hurt but if you do your homework then you can find a strain for every climate. You just need an unpopulated area to grow if you can’t indoors. Please try this and grow organic as to not hurt mother nature. Stay strong and you’ll make it through this. Unfortunately, the side affects to these treatments often are life long and you probably will need to medicate from now on cus it messes w/your guts and nervous system. Mary Jane will help you cope.

This isn’t just a state or even federal issue — its one that affects the whole world.
We need change at the State, Federal and International levels.

Cancer is the #1 cause of death in the world and it mercilessly tortures, maims and kills it victims — Cancer is the worst torture of all.

Marijuana is a “Gift from God” and a “Wonder Drug” for Cancer Patients.

Every Cancer Patient in the world deserves the right to have safe, legal, access to Medical Marijuana.

    Every. Single. One.

This isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue.

This is a Human Rights issue.

Every Cancer Patient in the world deserves the right to have safe, legal, access to Medical Marijuana.

    Every. Single. One.

  3.

The real question is this — “What percentage of Cancer Patients who want to use Medical Marijuana have safe, legal, access to it?”
    The goal should be 100%.
