A study published in the journal Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, and published online by the National Institute of Health, has found promising evidence that cannabinoids can provide a natural treatment for the symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

“In an experimental mouse model of MS-related spasticity, Sativex [a product made entirely from cannabis]dose-dependently improved hind limb flexion/stiffness and a dosage of 10 mg/kg was shown to be as [or more]effective as the most widely established anti-spasticity treatment baclofen (5 mg/kg)”, claims the study.

According to researchers at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Italy; “These findings with Sativex are very promising and offer encouragement for MS patients, the majority of whom will develop spasticity-related disabling and recalcitrant symptoms. Furthermore, research into the endocannabinoid system may offer potential in other neurodegenerative, inflammatory and pain disorders.”

  1. I can attest to marijuana and MS. In the course of the disease I have tried every drug on the market with little to no success and $5k a month Rx bills. A nurse told me that marijuana might work, but since it isn’t legal in my state she couldn’t officially advise me to use. I tried using a small dose during a relapse and had almost instant relief from the spasticity and pain. Hopefully my state legislature will get past the red tape and make it available to those who can really benefit from it. I believe it should be legalized nationally, but in the mean time why not make it available to those suffering from the dozens of diseases it has shown to help?

  2. Except this has been legal in Canada & shortly more countries since about 2009…patients are pretty adamant it works.

  3. I have ms u can’t give a animal ms u give the rat ms like syptoms!! When u give the drugs to people with the real disease DOESNT work !!! Please stop giving us in the MS community false hope!!!

Choom, you may want to research these 2 formulas. This herbal formula was 40 years in the making google ( The silent killer Oxidative Stress ) and this other one was 20 years in the making and it is a a Black Seed formula for chronic pain google ( Chronic Pain Relief Fast wakeupgethealthy ) The one thin that these 2 formulas have in common is that they both fight cancer and are very powerful for inflammation.

  5. Are there any side effects from either treatment? That is the thing about Cannabis related medicine I like. The side effects, if any, are minimal and usually quite tolerable.

  6. Medicines that are plant based are rare to non-existent, in American pharmacopeia, making this a very big deal.
