The Critical Mass marijuana strain is a cross between Afghani and Skunk #1, two legendary strains. The Critical Mass marijuana strain was created by Mr. Nice Seed Bank. The Critical Mass marijuana strain is known for enormous buds and yields. The average flowering time for the Critical Mass strain is roughly 8 weeks, but can be as short as 6 weeks depending on the grower. THC levels for the Critical Mass marijuana strain can be as high as 22%, and the high from Critical Mass is intense, causing couchlock in most people.

Would you say this strain is most sativa or indica dominant? Also, would it be a good choice for making and using Rick Simpson oil for medicine?

    •

in general, strains with very high amounts of thc (like this one) are not preferrable for making rick simpson oil. the reason is that you cant ingest the required amount of oil because its simply too strong. you want to look for strains with a lower thc content and a high cbd content, like shark attack, for instance. Definitely avoid sativas for the medicinal oil, unless its a specifically bred high cbd strain from cbd crew.

(2 years later) Afghani x Skunk #1 = Indica dominant w/high CBD levels. I bought seeds from a “CBD” menu, but this stain is still going to have a higher THC;CBD ratio, therefore I need to get a strain with higher CBD:THC ratio growing. Rather than make “Rick Simpson Oil” (RSO), which uses the whole plant and toxic solvents to extract the medicine, I recommend making a coconut oil extract, which is easy to make, and can be used both internally or externally as a salve. Recipes are available online, but basically you just ‘deoxy’ the buds at about 200-250 degrees for 1/2-1 hour depending on temperature, then put it in a pot with organic coconut oil (I like to use twice as much oil as buds, but strength can be adjusted according to preferences), add a tablespoon of organic sunflower lecithin (emulsifier that helps it absorb internally and externally), and stir it while gently heating to extract the cannabinoids into the coconut oil. After about an hour of stirring it while gently simmering (I like to keep it just below simmering), let it cool to room temperature, and then strain it through a sieve with cheesecloth or paper-filter to filter out the plant matter. It will cool and solidify at room temperature, if it isn’t too warm – coconut oil becomes liquid at body-temperature, so it will absorb right in, and even better if you used lecithin. Putting it under your tongue will absorb rapidly into your bloodstream, which will enable you to feel it within 10-20 minutes. If you eat it though, then most of the THC has to get processed by your liver before you feel it, although some of it absorbs into your bloodstream sooner. After the THC is processed into the much more potent “11-Hydroxy THC” in your liver, THEN you feel it – and 11-Hydroxy THC is much more potent than regular THC, which is why after eating it people often become over-medicated a couple hours later. When THC is converted to the more potent 11-Hydroxy THC in the liver, most of the THC is destroyed, but even the much lower level of Hydroxy-11 THC is much more potent. That phenomena results in blood levels of THC appearing to be low in people who come to emergency rooms after eating too much cannabis, or giving too much to their dogs – that often happens too, because dogs are hypersensitive to cannabis having more CB1/CB2 receptors than humans, plus being generally smaller with a faster metabolism.

My father recently overdosed by eating the cannabis extract on a piece of bread, instead of putting it on his tongue – he tried to get out of bed nours later, fell down, couldn’t get up, and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room, where then only found traces of THC in his bloodstream. Be careful if you eat cannabis – using it by vaporizing, or putting it into your mouth (gums, tongue, or sublingually) to absorb directly into the bloodstream are efficient and don’t produce Hydroxy-11 THC. Rubbing coconut-cannabis salve into the anus or outer rectum is perhaps the most efficient way to use it, and especially indicated for treating prostate cancer. If you push it into the inner rectum, however, it will be absorbed into an artery, and then go through your liver where it will be processed into 11-Hydroxy THC, so don’t push it in too far…or if you want to get really stoned – push it way in there..!
