I am a big fan of the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA). They employ a lot of activists, in addition to their stellar industry advocacy, and that’s something that I respect a lot. To me, that means that they know their stuff. It’s one thing to just be a wanderer, floating from one industry to the next. It’s a completely different thing to have had a passion for cannabis for a long time, to have fought for it when it wasn’t fashionable to do so, and to continue to fight for it. That’s what it takes to make an impact on the federal level when it comes to cannabis policy, which is why I think that NCIA is so successful.
NCIA is putting on their national event in June in Oakland, California. I have described it as being the most important cannabis industry event of the year, and I think that’s a very valid statement. There are tons, and tons of industry events these days. But those are all mainly geared towards one thing – profit. I don’t want to bemoan profit, because things cost money in this world, and I believe that people should be compensated for their hard work, talent, and determination. However, there’s more to the cannabis industry than just profit. There is a war going on against the cannabis plant, and against the people that use it, cultivate it, and/or sell it. It takes advocacy in addition to entrepreneurship to truly be a success in the cannabis industry, at least in my eyes.
Without advocacy, and education, and networking with other like minded people to band together, things can take steps backwards in a very quick fashion. If no one is advocating for the cannabis industry and reform movement in Congress, do you honestly think that Congressional members are just going to up and decide to reform the laws that govern (or outright hinder) the cannabis industry? NCIA was founded in 2010. Look at how far things have come. There’s obviously a lot that has gone into that, but I feel confident when I say that NCIA played a BIG role in that.
Do you want to learn how to succeed in the cannabis industry? Do you want to learn how to equip yourself to be the best industry advocate that you can be? Do you want to meet other like minded people that you can learn from, and who knows, maybe even teach them a thing or two about what you know? If so, you should give a serious consideration to coming to the Cannabis Business Summit hosted by the National Cannabis Industry Association.
Thousands of people are expected to attend, and the list of speakers (which I think is still growing) is amazing. The topics that will be covered will be timely, which is not something I can say about every cannabis industry event, but that I can ALWAYS say about NCIA events. I was just in Oakland this last weekend, and it was already looking beautiful. I can only imagine how nice it will be in June. I know a lot of people that are coming from miles around to this event, and for good reason. I am going to do everything I can to get there, and I hope to see as many readers there as possible.
