guam medical marijuanaMarijuana is medicine. This is a fact that the United States government tries to discredit any chance they get. The irony of course is that the Unites States government owns multiple patents relating to medical marijuana, and even provides medical marijuana to four patients. It’s also a fact that opponents try to refute, despite the overwhelming scientific evidence.

If a patient suffers from an ailment, infection, disease, etc, they should be able to use a medicine that is safe and effective if they choose to. This is true for marijuana, or any other medicine that fits that criteria. Fortunately for suffering patients in Guam, voters will get the chance to vote on medical marijuana legalization there in the upcoming General Election. Per Guampdn.com:

The Guam Election Commission decided tonight to let voters determine whether to legalize medical marijuana in the General Election in November.

The official certification by the commission means the issue will go forward to voters.

The Guam Legislature had been considering passing a medical marijuana bill themselves, but preferred to refer it to voters to decide. The name of the proposed reform is the Joaquin ‘KC’ Concepcion II Compassionate Cannabis Use Act of 2013. The Act would legalize dispensaries, with rules and regulations being determined down the road by a government commission.
