Headband is a combination of OG Kush, Master Kush, and Sour Diesel that provides a smooth and pleasant tasting smoke. Good for pain relief, relaxing, and relieving stress.

“Date Acquired: June 29, 2011

Grade: A

Type: Hybrid (Sativa Dominant)

Looks: Large sticky light green nugs with a very heavy covering of trichomes with dark forest green spotting.

Smell: A woodsy pinescent and chlorophyll. Vicks VapoRub.

Taste: Very much like sweet/sour lemony powdery candy; produces a sweet lemony after taste that progresses to some serious “fuel” tasting dry mouth.

Buzz Type: It felt like someone was literally pushing down the top of my head while at the same time; pushing in my forehead. I felt slight tingle in the appendages. Deep smoke intakes will produce a quick a rush that will mellows out to a very balanced mellowing buzz. For a Sativa dominant version of Headband, it attacked pain very well but, can be a bit “head heavy” and play “up” your current mood and/or state of mind.

Buzz Length: Above Average to Long (1.5 to 2 hours)

Summary:

* It’s been well over a year that I have medicated with any kind of “version” of Headband. Now, I remember why this is typically a strain I am not reaching for…

I enjoyed taking big sniffs of this bud. I do like very similar smell of Vicks VapoRub (not sure if that is good or bad) and sniffs would clear my allergy laden nostrils. This batch of Headband does leave a strong lingering “medicine-like” odor. A few friends came by my home and said my office smelled like “Chinese medicine.”

When the medicinal effect was calming, this is when I enjoyed this Headband most. I tend to get a bit over excited; especially when talking “weed.” I noticed this strain calmed me down quite a bit allowing me to focus and get a lot of work done. But, I had to be by myself. I did not have the same medicinal effect when others were around.

A few times, I inhaled some larger than “normal” smoke which produced a serious head rush causing me to sweat with eyes immediately getting very low.

During some sessions, I felt this strain “pounded my head” a bit a too hard (the feeling as if I drank to many shots of Jägermeister or Goldschläger back in my day – just typing that almost made me sick). It’s this unpredictable nature of this strain that causes me not to grab it. It did play up on my moods a few times. So, instead of being a little upset at something, I’d be ticked off. If in a happy/joyful mood, I might be singing a tune (which is something I normally do not do).

Other sessions, I would just be flat out lazy; not wanting to do anything, but rest and sleep. I even noticed an increase in appetite, but eating is a not a condition where I need assistance. I found myself eating at times when I really knew I was not hungry. This is a little hard to explain, but the increase in appetite I felt was NOT like having the case of the “munchies.”

Also, many times I was hit with itchy RED eyes when coming down which could be a more of an issue specific to me given my dry eye condition. This strain exacerbated it and luckily, I always keep eye drops around.

Despite the negatives that personally affected me with this batch of Headband, I can still respect this is a solid strain for those who like Headband strains. As for sessions with this refill, my positive vs. negative experience was about 50/50. This strain actually “shined” more for me with the Vape. Use of the Vape deterred most of the negative side effects I had with use of glass bong.

Vape Notes:

Use of my Vape actually surprised me in a very good way. I was actually tasting a bit of unripe banana (green banana) with “thicker” vape draws, but mostly a sour lemony taste that is more noticeable as an after taste. I did cough a few times while vaping this strain. With the “lighter” buzz effect, I was definitely much more “in control” of this strain vs. use of my glass bong. I did not experience the “headiness” while using the Vape and actually had BETTER focus. One of the few times where “overall,” I like the effect of a strain with the Vape vs. the Bong. If I was working around co-workers (or in an office), This batch of Headband would be a great strain to sneak in Vape sessions if I kept a portable Vape in the car with some pre-ground nugs.

This batch of Headband was definitely a winner in the Vape!” – ie420patient
