Gavel marijuana americans for safe access lawsuit federal rescheduleWant to help fund history and support sound science? See the information below that I received late last week:

Don Duncan, Board of Directors, Americans for Safe Access

Americans for Safe Access (ASA) filed briefs with the US Appellate Court in Washington, DC, today asking for a new hearing on our rescheduling lawsuit and a review by the full nine-judge panel. This is the latest offensive in our ten-year old campaign to have medical cannabis removed from the list of dangerous drugs with no accepted medical use. The review could reverse the court’s earlier decision to deny our rescheduling petition, or it could lead to a show down in the US Supreme Court! If we win, clinical research can move forward and the day that medical cannabis is 100% legal for everyone who needs it will be much closer!

Fighting for medical cannabis in federal court is a long and expensive struggle. ASA needs your help to keep moving forward and to finally prevail. The budget for our federal legal campaign, which includes two important lawsuits, will be well over $300,000. That includes briefs, hearings, soliciting amicus briefs, research, press, and more. A small group of dedicated ASA members comprise our Legal Support Team. Team members pledge at least $100 each month for eighteen months to help us win.

Join the ASA’s Legal Support Team today and you will be making a difference. You will also be invited to a team member-only conference call with ASA Chief Counsel Joe Elford next Tuesday,March 26th. As a Legal Support Team member, you will be invited to each member-only call with Joe Elford to get updates on our federal cases, you will receive briefs the day they are filed, and you will be acknowledged on ASAʼs website and publications (if you wish) as a team member. Best of all, you will know that you are making a real difference in the fight for patients’ rights and safe access.

Will you join medical cannabis champions like Bhang Chocolate, one of the primary donors to this effort on the Legal Support Team? Now is a great time to do it, because we are in the middle of a special matching-funds challenge as part of our Spring Membership Drive. If you join today, a generous donor will match your first contribution! I will send new and existing team members conference call details on Monday, so don’t wait to join.

You can make a one-time or affordable recurring donation of any of whatever size you can afford to help ASA today and take advantage of the matching-funds challenge. Contributions of any size help ASA fight in the courts, pass new legislation, shape media coverage, and train our growing grassroots base.
