Just The Beginning With Medical Marijuana In Ohio
Earlier this month, Ohio became the 25th medical marijuana state, a compassionate step toward helping thousands of ill patients. But passing the law was just the beginning.
While we’re happy the government passed the bill, we don’t trust the government to faithfully and speedily implement the law — unless we’re at the table with them. It’s up to us to ensure the system is fair and delivers on the promises lawmakers made to create a compassionate program.
In case you missed it, there are already issues with the new law. A well-meaning provision that sets aside 15% of the state’s medical marijuana businesses for minorities may be unconstitutional. The provision was intended to offset the harm caused to communities of color, which are often disproportionally impacted by the war on marijuana. You can learn more here, and be sure to stay tuned for more updates as the situation unfolds.
We’re working hard to make sure Ohio has the strongest medical marijuana law possible. Please donate the most generous gift you can toward our implementation efforts today.
