yorkie dog with marijuanaMedical marijuana has worked very well for human patients. A Senator in Nevada wants to allow pets to use medical marijuana too. There’s not a lot of research out there in regards to animals and medical marijuana. However, I have read some articles, and have even posted some articles on this blog, that suggest that pets could benefit from using medical marijuana. Per Metro News:

A Nevada senator has introduced a bill that would allow pets to use pot.

Democratic Sen. Tick Segerblom is sponsoring the bill that was introduced Tuesday.

SB372 calls on state officials to issue medical marijuana cards for animals if the animal’s owner is a Nevada resident and a veterinarian certifies that the animal has an illness that might be alleviated by marijuana.

What do readers think? Would you consider giving medical marijuana to your pet? If so, why? If not, why not? How would you administer medical marijuana to your pet if you support the idea? Obviously blowing smoke clouds in your pets face isn’t optimal, but what about a tincture, or some other edible form of medical marijuana? How would you determine the proper dose?

Absolutely, as an alternative to those medications they are now given. It should particularly work in an edible form for hyperactive dogs.

They aren’t seriously thinking of allowing pet rabbits to have medical marijuana, are they???
