New Jersey Sees A Fifth Medical Marijuana Dispensary Open

new jersey medical marijuanaI have been a very big critic of New Jersey’s medical marijuana program. The list of qualifying conditions is very short, patients aren’t allowed to grow their own medicine, and the only legal way that they can obtain medical marijuana is by visiting a licensed medical marijuana dispensary. Up until recently, there were only four dispensaries for the entire state. A fifth one opened this last week. Per Marijuana Business Daily:

The fifth dispensary in the state opened its doors this morning after getting final approval Wednesday from the New Jersey Department of Health.

Breakwater Treatment & Wellness – located in southern New Jersey’s Middlesex County – will see patients by appointment only for now. The dispensary plans to grow enough cannabis to eventually serve up to 3,000 patients, an executive told NJ.com.

It’s the second permit New Jersey has granted in two months, breaking a logjam in dispensary openings.

The sixth and final dispensary, Foundation Harmony in the city of Secaucus, remains in the background-check phase of the licensing process.

It’s great that there is another safe access point in New Jersey, but it’s still a bittersweet thing. I receive a lot of e-mails out of New Jersey from people that desperately need medical marijuana but can’t qualify for the program. I also receive e-mails from existing patients saying that supply shortages, poor quality of medicine, and high prices are something that they have to deal with regularly. The patients of New Jersey deserve a much better medical marijuana program than they have now, but with a Governor like Chris Christie, I don’t expect the program to change anytime soon.

The only good thing about chris christie is watching him get flamed by jimmy nightly.

  • malcolmkyle

People like Christie don’t really have a choice; he either stays on the corporate path or comes to a very sticky end. It’ll be a pleasure to watch him suffer.

  • saynotohypocrisy

Christie is being quite the pig about medicinal marijuana. He’s also being very piggy by running for President when the New Jersey economy and government finances need a governor’s attention. Selfish, selfish, selfish, so full of himself, other people’s suffering isn’t real to him.

…wish Pennsylvania would get on board already…these restrictions I feel are setting the public up for failure so the government can once again declare marijuana use is pointless, doesn’t help ease sicknesses things like that so marijuana can be banned all over again…keep fighting we will get there

I’m okay with no smoking (as long as vaporization is permitted), but home grows are essential (art least/especially for low income residents like myself).

I am literally counting the days until we can vote Chris[py] “Creme” Christie out of office. He’s a fat child who has been bullied all his life, in a man’s body. Now that he has power, the bullied child has become the bullier. If by some insane chance he becomes president… UK or Canada, here I come. #frakkinpoliticians

      He’s always been a bully

If he gets elected, I hope God finally gives him that fatal heart attack or stroke that he’s been working on so long. If not, January 20, 2017, I renounce my US citizenship. Same goes for Trump (although that is even less likely)
