oregon medical marijuana cannabis oregonian newspaperIn what is likely to be the final poll released regarding Oregon Measure 91, the marijuana legalization initiative is still winning by a decent margin. A poll was recently released by KGW News and The Oregonian which showed the initiative losing 46%-48%, but that poll was quickly dismissed since it assumed that 70% of voters would be over 51 years old, and it relied so heavily on phone calls to land lines. The more recent poll shows the following results, per Fire Dog Lake:

It looks like Oregon will be the third state to legalize marijuana. The latest SurveyUSA poll for KATU finds Measure 91 with majority support. If approved, the measure would legalize, tax and regulate marijuana for adults 21 and over.

The poll found 52 percent of likely voters planning to vote for the ballot measure, while 41 percent are planning to vote no. The remaining 7 percent are undecided.

That’s the same level of support that other polls had, so I think those numbers are fairly accurate. Voter turnout is going to make or break this initiative. If there is high voter turnout, the initiative will win. If voter turnout is lack luster, it likely will fail. If you haven’t voted yet, please do so, and if you know someone that hasn’t voted, give them a gentle reminder to do so as well!
