oregon senate bill 844 medical marijuana measure 91I received the following call to action from a very hardworking Oregon activists named Lori Duckworth (thanks Lori!), and I encourage all Oregon readers to participate:

The Measure 91 Committee is starting to consider amendments that will severely impact the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act. These amendments are being attached to Senate Bill 844. While the amendment contains some beneficial provisions for the OMMA, it unnecessarily restricts patient grow sites and places too many barriers upon medical marijuana providers. Some of the more troubling provisions:

Starting on March 1, 2016, grow sites in residential areas will only be able to grow for 2 patients maximum (12 plants); non-residential locations will only be able to grow for 8 total (48 plants).
Growers will be subjected to a fee and inspections (even for personal grows)
Growers will have to report monthly to the state and keep records up to 7 years.
Any violation of the rules allows OHA to contact law enforcement.

Please send emails to the Measure 91 Committee immediately and then follow up with phone calls on Monday and let them know that they should vote “NO” on the Senate Bill “Dash 6” amendments. The 89 page “Dash 6” amendment was snuck onto Monday’s agenda late Friday afternoon, amending a two page bill. There is a special rule that allows legislators to pass an amendment, even if it has nothing to do with the original bill, without holding a public hearing with public testimony. It is imperative that you act now to help protect patients’ access to medicine.

IMPORTANT ACTION #1: Please email the Measure 91 Committee immediately and state: “Please vote ‘NO’ on the Senate Bill 844 “Dash 6″ Amendments because thousands of sick and disabled patients will lose safe access to medicine, hurting their quality of life. Limiting patient gardens and placing unnecessary rules, inspections, fees and reporting requirements on growers will force many out of the medical system and potentially into the black market.”

From a political standpoint and as hard as the OMMP Patient community have Worked to get some of these a-holes elected and to hire More Democrats? Imo/view considering the “back-stabbing nature” Of Oregons “so-called democrats” – these actions and their Blatant, Willful Disregard of the terms of M91 and the Voices of this minority group just to Protect their Moneyed Lobbyists investments, are literally Inviting a GOP takeover in 2016/2018! I plan to lobby Against Any Democrat that Votes to Pass this BS!
They are to Leave the OMMA Alone! Period. That’s what the voters demand and it was Crystal Clear. We. Did. Not. Stutter!

As a grower, I am perfectly happy reviving funds from the Cannabis tax for subsidizing the needy as long as a doctor will vouch for their dosing and there is sufficient reason to believe they are not diverting.. People who want to grow and sell can get licenses, submit to regulations, and pay taxes like proper civilized folk.

God forbid we make it difficult to divert the product away from the tax and reg system.

This is what we should do. Problem is, people don’t like having to prove they are competent to be in the market.

Like giving the best growers unlimited production rights would limit patient access. ASININE.

effects of the person’s debilitating medical condition.

Ya, these are totally practical rules structured similarly to the way we run every other business in the world…not

Those people would benefit more form universal health care, and yet all they can do is whine about lack of access to cheap drugs that get them high.

    Where/who originated this?

  4.

Please recreationally legalize Marijuana, in all of the states, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

  5.

Please recreationally legalize Bud. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Do inmates have easy access to information regarding the world, is it easier for them who are being scapegoated by a system taking money from the people’s businesses, industries, and courts to imprison the individuals who would say something to stop unjust laws. Hundreds of Thousands of people locked away on biased strategy to keep the people in “check” so that the governors, senators, and others who hold the throne, -of Democracy- can get theirs. Let my people go. Jesus is The King Of Kings, God, and The Celestial Mother live. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

  6.

Over 67,000 prisoners, incarcerated for marijuana charges are being petitioned to be released from a single state as we speak.
    Christ lives.

  7.

So as a grower for my wife with MS do I just say screw it and quit giving the state their 250 bucks a year and grow recreational?

  8.

I think they should regulate it. The problems with OMMP are the result of greedy growers ripping off their patients not the government although that’s a convenient excuse. Can anyone involved with OMMP tell me with a straight face there isn’t a huge amount of diversion of MJ from the patients into the grower’s pocket?

  9.

Vote YES on 844 and it will be a vote for the future of the next generation and against the stoners and liars of today!
