portland oregon medical marijuana dispensary collective deliveryI like to highlight marijuana businesses that give back to the community. I wish more marijuana businesses believed in giving back instead of just worrying about their bottom line. Below is a message from Brightside PDX in Portland, Oregon. They are a medical marijuana dispensary that is doing it right. If you live in the Portland area, check them out, and bring in a toy:

We are pleased to announce that with the relentless support of the Brooklyn neighborhood and the generosity of our patients and staff, we reached our goal of raising 500 cans of food that was donated to St. Francis of Asisi church and dining hall. Brightside would like to extend a huge thank you to everybody that helped us reach our goal that served those most vulnerable in our community.

Next up, we are kicking off the Brightside-Brooklyn Neighborhood Community Toy Drive! All toy donations will be going to the annual KGW Great Toy Drive. Brightside chose to donate to KGW due to the sheer amount of children’s lives they touch every year. We plan on teaming up with neighboring businesses in the Brooklyn neighborhood to knock this out of the park. True Brew Coffeehouse, Classic Pianos, WTF Bikes, Portland Juice Press, and our southwest friends at Bamboo Grove Hawaiian Grille have joined Brightside and our mission to serve struggling families and provide their children with the Christmas they deserve.

All of the listed businesses above will have toy donation-drop boxes at their locations, as well as at Brightside .Unwrapped new toys of any kind are accepted for donation. Brightside is also continuing our Winter-Weather Clothing Drive, and the need for warm clothing is increasing as winter settles into Portland. With current temperatures expected not to rise over 30 degrees, it is vital that we come together as a community and provide for those less fortunate. Coats, sweaters, gloves, and boots are a few examples of clothing that can be donated, and potentially save a life. Brightside is still teamed up with St. Francis of Asisi in southeast Portland, and all donations will be going to this location. We have already donated over 20 large bags of clothing with the help of the Brooklyn neighborhood community and Brightside’s patients and staff. It is truly amazing what we can accomplish when we all work together, and in light of the holiday season we must capitalize on our ability to give.
