Representative Diane Russell (D-Portland) will formally introduce legislation that would make Maine the third state to legalize and regulate the possession and sale of marijuana to people over the age of 21 at a press conference that was held at noon yesterday.

    these proposals should be made by responsible people not fools with no basic understanding of the issue i agree with what u said about the price. theres a lot of greed and money gonna be made before the price goes down but its comin

  2. What is the proposed tax?

    If you consider hot house tomatoes at $5 an lb and weed at 5X that – top grade weed should sell for around $2 an oz. At $50 an oz tax (wholesale) at the State level we are already at 25X that price. Add another $50 an oz (wholesale) Federal and now you are at 50X. Add in another $50 an oz for the grower (suppotable because of the high taxes) and you are at 75X. Double that for the wholesale to retail markup and you are around $5,000 an lb. Which should support a nice black market.
