ptsd second amendment military veteran cannabis marijuanaDuring the Senate Judiciary Committee on December 8, Senator Jones ejected from the Chamber an Iraq War veteran who was there to plead on behalf of soldiers for reasonable medical marijuana laws.

Watch the video- it is disturbing to see.

Senator Jones, the much-maligned former small town Sheriff who reportedly loves to say, “I’m Rick Jones, bitch!”, took offense to Marine veteran Dakota Serna calling Sheriff Deputies “jack boots” and “thugs”. His response was a quick gavel, a shouting match and a final declaration of disrespect.

During one exchange Serna said, ”I fought for my right to testify, for free speech, and you are denying it.”

Sen. Jones answered, “That’s it. Goodnight.”

Serna refused to leave until guards told him the proceedings would be shut down- and patient testimony halted- if he did not leave the chamber as ordered by Sen. Jones.

Sen. Jones himself has a history of wicked behavior that includes many incidents of name calling. The Senate Majority Leader had to apologize on Jones’ behalf for remarks made about a female leader of the Tea Party in 2012; that year Jones also offended women across the state by calling the female head of a powerful Lansing public relations firm a “hooker.”

One of these victims said, “And unless Jones receives strict consequences for his actions, the list of woman who are the victims of his bullying will continue to grow.”

Not just women- medical marijuana patients, and veterans, too.

These guys fight and die for our way of life, the Free American Way, and they get treated like straw dogs from the very government they swore to protect to begin/w-both foreign and domestic threats. That includes Tyranny folks and until our Veterans get the respect and mmj they need for any reason, even if just to get high and blow off steam, they got lied to as their way of life and that they would be taken care of no matter what, no mmj is a breach of trust and shows an intelligent man that he is expendable an hired only from the neck down-as not to do their own thinking. Ask any retired/ discharged veteran w/half a brain n they’ll tell ya shit runs down hill- meaning the chain-of-command from POTUS down to the drill sergeant above him or her- its a pyramid, ponzee scheme w/ no chance for change or advancement w/out usually compromising something lost, down w/ non-caring, incompassionate big government but support our troops!!! Thank you for everything you have done and the hope you inspire for others and to show our enemies both foreign and domestic that quit’s not in our vocabulary.

Might be helpful to note that Senator Jones is, of course, a Republican.

    •

The miserable Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, a Democrat, is equally rude and obnoxious toward cannabis advocates. Both Republicans and Democrats are to blame for perpetuating this damned Anti Marihuana Tyranny. They have fully cooperated in doing so for almost 80 years!!!!!

      •

        In the US House:

91% of Dems voted for keeping the DEA out of medicinal programs, only 22% of Republicans did.

94% of Democrats voted to keep the feds out of pot banking, only 20% of Republicans did.

One side is considerably better on a wide range of issues than the other.

        •

I’m not going to quibble with your statistics. President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, did absolutely nothing positive for our movement. President Barack Obama, a Democrat, clearly does not have the cajones to erase the fraudulent word “marihuana” from the federal Controlled Substances Act, as he should. Obama’s deplorable cowardice for the last 7 years will most likely keep the bipartisan anti-cannabis tyranny in place long after the clock runs out for his final days in office. How does that bode for America’s qualifying medical cannabis patients who suffer without safe and legal access? How does that help hemp farmers, ambitious cannabis entrepreneurs, all people languishing in county jails and state/federal prisons for nonviolent marijuana offenses? The vast majority of Republicans AND Democrats are bought and paid for by the corporations/moneyed interests being enriched by cannabis prohibition. That has been the full truth for almost 80 years.

The billions that asset forfeiture brings in ensures this sinking ship will stay the course. $20 trillion in debt and approaching the point our interest payments equals our revenue. Our government has failed us while the two parties fight amongst themselves and turn the public against one another.

          •

“I’m not going to quibble with your statistics”

What’s to quibble with? We have a much better chance at reform if we elect Democrats.

This issue is like gay marriage. It will be legal federally soon. Is it soon enough? Well, no, because the vast majority of Americans opposed making it legal until only recently. Politicians merely reflected that. The list of Republicans who dared to go against public opinion is very short. The list of Democrats who did is much longer.

Would you vote for the Bern if he went Independent AGAIN? I don’t disagree entirely with you, but it would seem that the line is more about geography than anything else DNC or RNC related. I pressed Bernie Sanders for a decade about reform considering how hypocritical his position seemed at the time when compared to the injustices and positions he has stood for, but only when the politician inside him changed his mind did he.

          •

Bernie already said he won’t run third party, and that he’ll support Hillary if she’s the nominee. But I will be voting for him in the primaries. Hillary has said she thinks we should look into rescheduling, but I think that’s more of a signal that Obama’s going to be doing it before he leaves office.

We’ll see this progress as gay marriage did, one small step at a time until it’s finally just legal for all Americans.

          •

The government wasn’t filling prison quotas, seizing property in the billions and issuing no knock warrants for being gay. My point being that our broke government didn’t really have a horse in that race. I hate the notion of slow and steady that you suggest because it just give them more time to create some other way/market to screw us, dem and repub alike.

          •

Yes because DNC IS doing same thing GOP did to Dr Paul in 08 & again “12 in Tampa Convention

        •

Your statistics are important, and your conclusion accurate, but it’s incomprehensible to me that Obama has not rescheduled cannabis. And he’d have overwhelming public support for it too. I hate to say it, but he has blood on his hands. The buck stops with him.

          •

The question is who to vote for if you want the best chance for reform? And I have a bet with some people here that Obama will reschedule before he leaves office.

Tell me how the hippie punchers in the GOP would have done that already had they gotten Willard “What’s Hemp” Romney elected.

      •

Nonsense. She may disagree with marijuana advocates, but she would never behave as Senator Jones did.

        •

“I oppose the legalization of marijuana in California with most of law enforcement,” Ms. Feinstein stated in a decidedly more low-key hearing with a DEA bureaucrat earlier this year. Had this brave veteran, Dakota Serna, made the same remarks to her that day, I guarantee you it would’ve whipped up this influential, stalwart Democrat’s rudeness.

          •

Stalwart? You’re kidding, right? She, like lots of older people who just don’t get this issue, will be gone soon.

You can pick and choose some Democrats here and there who oppose reform, but it’s cherry picking. For the most part, the entire GOP is against legalization.

I bet that really pisses you off, huh?

Where is the respect? The compassion? Vets have earned the right to be heard. If we keep treating vets this way, who is gonna fight our wars for us? Hmmmmm?

As a public fu*king servant it’s time to get these illegitimate bastards to be removed from office by any means possible. These inconsiderate power mongers need to have their official status removed immediately. He seems to be a part of the Chris Christie club of “Sit down and shut up.”. These demeaning bastards forget their role under the Constitution of the former United States of Amurrikkka and weild totally illegitimate power over his constituents. Let me go on the record as saying that this bastard can go f*ck himself. He’s the same kind of puke that lets the VA abuse veterans which caused the death of my father. It’s time to get these power happy pricks out of government service. Their time in power is limited. Be warned bastard, your insensitivity to our veterans will NOT BE TOLERATED. The time for a wholesale cleaning of these SOB’s out of government offices is overdue. Lets start a petition to run this son of a bitch out of office. He’s the one that can sit down and shut up along with Christie. I’m working on a petition to have him removed from office based in this report. Please look for the petition online and sign it. Or is he more important than our veterans?

    •

“Lets start a petition to run this son of a bitch out of office.”

With all due respect, sir, why the constant pussyfooting? Whatever happened to Tar and Feathers or good old bullets?

      •

The army got tanks, drones, assault weapons, and protective gear. That whole concept of overthrowing a corrupt government that’s written in the Constitution is obsolete because we can’t manage it. It amuses me that the various redneck militias across the country think anything they’ve stockpiled will be useful in the event of an actual uprising. That’s why people in the middle east like to use suicide bombers.

People need to call the white house comment line at (202) 456-1111 at least once every single day and to get as many people as they can do to so as well. We need this effort to “go viral”
My “Dog in this fight” is America’s Cancer Patients right to have Safe, Legal, access to Medical Marijuana, but my heart goes out to the brave men and women of our armed forcers who risk their lives to serve our country.

  6.

This is what we get when we don’t vote.

  7.

Everyone needs to call the white house comment line at (202) 456-1111 every single day and ask that the President get Marijuana removed from Schedule 1. If everyone who reads this blog were to do that and to ask everyone they know to do it and to pass the idea on and have the idea of doing so “go viral” we’d finally get the policy changes that we need.

    •

The will of the people means little to a lame duck president even if they live in an important district of Florida or Ohio. From day one, he has known the will of the people and fluffed it off with his best elitist manner.

  8.

You can say what you want about the idiot but at least Trump isn’t bought and paid for(he used to do the buying of politicians, he knows how that shit works) like ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES.

  9.

People need to call the WH comment line, every day, and POLITELY ask that the President get Marijuana removed from Schedule 1 immediately.

    •

it should be over the counter its safer than anything you can already buy over the counter.

we must demand this every day repeatedly

  10.

When I found out that a VA response to my paperwork will usually take over 200 days, it became clear what America’s Republican congress really thinks about disabled veterans.

    •

Keep the faith briteleaf. Just try to brush off the hurry up and wait mentality, Its ingrained and part of the game here too. Try to keep busy and hope you never have to see the appeal process, they can last years.
