dennis peron jack herer california medical marijuanaJack Herer is a legend in the marijuana world. The strain that is named after him is one of the best strains of all time. Legalization initiatives are named in Jack Herer’s honor. If you haven’t picked up a copy of his book ‘The Emperor Wears No Clothes‘, chances are you have been living under a rock for a long, long time.

I remember when I first met Jack Herer at a marijuana festival in my home state of Oregon. I bought a pipe from his booth, and he instructed me to always keep it clean. He said it would improve taste and is just solid etiquette. Sensi Seeds is having a contest, in which you share your Jack Herer story and possibly win a prize. More information is below:

I got my medical marijuana card the day that jack died while living in Cali, he did so much for cannabis and made sommany people aware of what a diverse and sacred plant it is. In all honesty the jack herer i got in cali was nothing special, i will put that on who grew it.

I sat, for a day, with Jack in front of the federal building in Louisville Ky. I got to know him and hemp really well. He autographed my Emperor and I never stopped preaching the gospel of hemp. I also ran the governors campaign of another hemp pioneer, Gatewood Galbraith. The two of them were great friends and even though I didn’t see Jack again I was in contact with him from time to time.

My daughter is a MMJ patient, and showed up one day with a vile of medicine with the label “Jack Herrer” (yes, spelled wrong). Having given up weed 20 years earlier, and being out of the culture I had no idea about Jack . I didn’t know Jack, so to speak. I looked up the name and was amazed. I had started a mmj blog a month earlier for people unfamiliar with and of the weed culture and Jack’s book had so much of the info I was looking for that I was overwhelmed. Thank you Jack. I’m passing the doobie on to others.

The Weed Blog is as close to social media as I ever intend to get. So here’s my story:

I met Jack at the Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival in Madison Wisconsin in the mid 80’s right after the first edition of The Emperor was released. Shook his hand, shared something from Thailand, made some small talk and then I wandered off. Never crossed paths with him again after that.
