jack herer california cannabis hemp health initiative 2014Below is information from the 2014 California Cannabis Hemp And Health Initiative campaign. I encourage all readers to offer up their signature and support. California needs to join Washington and Colorado by legalizing cannabis:

California, the largest political unit in the USA and eighth largest global economy, can show the way to the future by re-legalizing the ultimate sustainable domestic resource.

The California Cannabis Hemp Initiative 2014 would create millions of jobs with a new, truly green economy with a valuation in the trillions of dollars.

This vital natural resource Cannabis Hemp, which was made illegal under a false propaganda campaign in 1937, can provide multitudes of non-toxic products, perhaps most importantly bio based oil/energy/plastics without the tragic loss of life, security concerns and wars due to foreign dependence, or catastrophic toxic ocean spills.

This is the ultimate renewable resource, way more efficient than corn or anything else.

It can also provide building materials, insulation and even paints/varnishes that are green, biodegradable, and non-toxic.

Its seeds can provide a super-food balanced in all amino acids and providing omega 6 and 3 in the perfect 3-1 ratio.

It is so resilient and easy to grow that it still grows feral in all 50 states and improves soil as it grows.

The petrochemical industry has had a good run- they’ve made their billions and have us on the edge of a dangerous cliff. They did it all by making a simple plant illegal for pure greed and profit for a mere 75 years.

Won’t you help us start to right the wrongs of Hemp prohibition? Won’t you help us end this lunacy once and for all? Enough is enough.

Our initiative is simple- make Cannabis Hemp 100% legal the way it used to be- and save our economy and our environment.

Yes it is. But I’ll settle for the U.S. if that’s all I can get.

Here’s one simple, cost-free thing every dispensary in America should now be doing. Voter registration forms should be made available to every patient. This serves two purposes. 1) To prevail we need to build a voting bloc and I suspect many of the younger patients have yet to register. And more than just votes we need to build a nation-wide network of volunteers to get out the vote. That means walking precincts on election day and manning phone banks. When one state is mounting a legalization drive, activists in other states can set up phone banks to assist them. 2) Our opponents need to know we are actively registering pro-legalization voters. Patients can take the form home, fill it out and mail it in, or better yet they can do it at the dispensary and the dispensary will mail them.

And one more tactic that those outside of Los Angeles may not be aware of. In LA the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union which represents grocery and retail workers has organized an unknown number of dispensaries and I suspect it was not the conventional worker vs. greedy employer thing, but a mutual desire to preserve jobs and keep dispensaries open. Politically, it’s one thing for government to kill a dispensary and destroy the jobs of young workers, but quite another thing to attack a major American labor union. Dispensary workers anywhere in the U.S. can contact their local UFCW and discuss how they might seek protection for their jobs and their dispensary by organizing as a union workplace. Not only will the dispensary have a powerful new ally, but they will also attract new patients from the ranks of organized labor who give preference to union businesses.

    We are winning.

Be careful about labor. A look at the history of the Teamsters Union will provide a clue.
