italy marijuanaThe marijuana reform movement is sweeping across the globe. From Uruguay to the United States, and even to Italy, marijuana legalization is gaining momentum. Recently no less than 60 lawmakers in Italy signed a motion calling for marijuana legalization in Italy. Per PotSeeds:

Over 60 Italian law-makers have signed a motion calling for the legalisation of cannabis in Italy.

The bi-partisan group of MPs, which includes many from the ruling left wing Democratic Party, but also MPs from the right, have backed the proposal from Benedetto Della Vedova, of the Scelta Civica (Civic Choice) Party, which is part of Italy’s ruling coalition Government.

Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, a Parliamentary undersecretary in the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs said: “It is a bipartisan proposition from members of the parliament of different political backgrounds. This shows that even in Italy a pragmatic approach, based on a rigorous cost / benefit analysis, is now increasingly popular in the political and cultural debate, not only outside but also inside the Parliament.”

Marijuana prohibition has been a total failure, whether it be in Italy or any other country on this planet. I like that Senator Benedetto Della Vedova pointed out that the cost/benefit analysis is clear, that marijuana needs to be legalized in Italy. Anyone with half a brain and some logical reasoning skills can see that the benefits of marijuana legalization far outweigh the costs of marijuana prohibition.
