This year San Francisco’s historic Cow Plaza will be the site of the Cup, just as it was in the inaugural NorCal Medical Cannabis Cup in 2010 – the first US-based Cannabis Cup in history. Over 20,000 cannabis enthusiasts will attend and 300 booths set up for the two-day celebration. Bay Area icon Steve DeAngelo will receive the HIGH TIMES Lester Grinspoon Lifetime Achievement Award at the Awards Ceremony on June 21st.

DeAngelo has a record four decades of activism and advocacy in the cannabis reform movement. His landmark Harborside Health Center is a place where safe access, compassionate and responsible use, and lab-tested, high-quality medicine is offered to all patients in great need. Steve’s lifelong cannabis activism, coupled with his extensive knowledge of this arena, makes him so deserving of this award.

The weekend long trade show/EXPO will also feature numerous panel discussions and seminars hosted by the HIGH TIMES staff. Panels and seminars will focus on a variety of topics, including cooking with cannabis, Cannabusiness, the future of medical marijuana, and much more. Grammy award-winning band Steel Pulse will highlight the celebratory concert on June 20th.

HIGH TIMES magazine has promoted cannabis legalization for the past 40 years, championing unfettered marijuana access, a level playing field for the marijuana industry, and the release of all non-violence marijuana prisoners. The Cannabis Cup has brought cannabis enthusiasts together since first debuting in Amsterdam in 1988. 27 years later Cannabis Cups are hosted in five US cities and internationally at the World Cannabis Cup, which will be announced soon.
