Study: Vaporized Marijuana Mitigates Treatment-Resistant Diabetic Neuropathy

vaporized cannabisBy Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director

Vaporized cannabis mitigates pain intensity in diabetic subjects in a dose-dependent manner, according to clinical trial data published online ahead of print in The Journal of Pain.

Investigators at the University of California, San Diego assessed the efficacy of inhaled cannabis versus placebo in 16 patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).

Authors reported: “This small, short-term, placebo-controlled trial of inhaled cannabis demonstrated a dose-dependent reduction in diabetic peripheral neuropathy pain in patients with treatment-refractory pain. … Overall, our finding of an analgesic effect of cannabis is consistent with other trials of cannabis in diverse neuropathic pain syndromes.”

A series of clinical trials conducted by investigators affiliated with the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego previously reported that the inhalation of whole-plant cannabis is efficacious in the treatment of various types of treatment-resistant neuropathic pain, including HIV-associated neuropathy and spinal cord injury. According to the findings of a 2014 clinical trial published in the Journal of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy, “At least 10 randomized controlled trials, lasting for more than 1000 patients, have demonstrated efficacy of different types of cannabinoids for diverse forms of neuropathic pain.”

An abstract of the study, “Efficacy of inhaled cannabis on painful diabetic neuropathy,” appears online here.

Our government is controlled by big business – and Big Pharma will never allow our government to unleash marijuana for medical use across the board unless they can profit from it………..enter Monsanto now making GMO marijuana….once the nazi zionists have a way to profit from GMO marijuana only then will it be allowed……….. of course, GMO marijuana will likely be formulated to cause physical destruction so that Big Pharma can make more $$$ and keep the depopulation plan moving forward…imagine GMO marijuana drenched in as much glyphosate as possible…hmmm, hmmm good – NOT!

Unfortunately, we will never see this being dispensed at any of the VA medical centers for the treatment of peripheral neuropathies associated with Diabetes Mellitus, which was finally associated with military men and women coming in contact with Agent Orange. Since our backward government still finds any usage of marijuana illegal on the Federal level, it will be against the law for VA physicians to prescribe it to the patients. Ergo, VA patients will have to go outside the system and go to states where it is legal to purchase marijuana.

That’s our government helping our Veterans. “Thank you for your service.” Right! I have had to go outside of the system before to get accurate care when I knew I was being railroaded.

In the abstract it shows THC 7% , but it does not say which strain. So, i guess my question is if you or any of your readers know which strain was used for this study. I do have DPN.

    Thank you for your time.
