The First Ever ‘Marijuana Super Bowl’ Coming In February

NFL is Interested in Studies of Cannabis for Pain

super bowl marijuana nfl footballIt’s official – the Denver Broncos are playing the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL Super Bowl this February. It’s a match-up that marijuana fans have been rooting for all season. The Broncos and the Seahawks are representing the two states that legalized marijuana in 2012. But before people get too excited, realize that the game is going to be played in the New York Giants stadium, which is actually in New Jersey.

So before you start planning your Super Bowl/legal marijuana trip, realize that the game is being played in a state where recreational marijuana is still very much illegal. It’s still a very cool thing though. As friend of the blog Aaron Houston pointed out, well over 100 million people are going to be watching the Super Bowl, many of which don’t follow the news. This might be their first introduction to marijuana legalization, which is sure to come up over and over again as these two teams play.

A lot of people are stating things like ‘if you want to have a championship caliber NFL team, just legalize marijuana in your state.’ Obviously, this is not scientifically accurate, but it’s still very fun to say! Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the NBA. For one, Seattle no longer has a team, so having a Denver/Seattle showdown in the NBA Finals is impossible. Also, the Denver Nuggets are not very good. And lastly, everyone knows that the Portland Trailblazers are going to win the NBA championship, Rip City!!!

The NFL Super Bowl takes place on February 2nd. Even though my favorite team (the Bengals) is not playing, I think this will be my favorite Super Bowl to date. I’ll make sure to have a snack in one hand, and a Volcano vaporizer bag in the other hand.
