April 20, 2011 Events and Schedule

420 is a ubiquitous term in cannabis culture and cannabiphiles have co-opted April 20th as a holiday dedicated to the celebration of all things cannabis. AZ4NORML, in its role as educator and advocate of this unique plant Cannabis, is excited to announce this year’s schedule of 420 Events.

Wednesday April 20th
11am -2pm: Good Day Sunshine – Sensible Tucson and AZ4NORML
@ The Cheba Hut, 5th St and Campbell Ave.

AZ4NORML informational tent with literature, merchandise, giveaways and a raffle. Sensible Tucson will be gathering signatures on their Petition proposing legislation reducing the penalties for possession of small amounts of Cannabis and paraphernalia in the City of Tucson.

Cheba Hut is hosting their traditional 420 sales specials and entertainment during their regular business hours. Please enjoy a delicious sandwich from our friends at Cheba Hut.

Wednesday April 20th
2pm — 6pm: 420 Guerrilla Group’s
“It’s Time To Reconsider Cannabis” Sidewalk Rally.
(a “March” from the Cheba Hut to Himmel Park)

This year the 420 Group has focused on the industrial uses and the enhancement and safety of Cannabis when used recreationally by responsible adults. Everyone is a member of the 420 Guerilla Group during the march and 4/20 festivities, please make a sign, bring a banner, and come out of the greenhouse for cannabis. We will gather at the Cheba Hut and start our ‘Walk’ at 2pm.

Depending on the weather, dress appropriately for the heat and sun (wear a hat, bring water, pull a wagon or wheeled bag with sun screen and other stuff you’ll need/want). We will Rally in the Park and socialize after.

Sidewalk Rally Route:

Start ~2pm, the Cheba Hut. We will proceed to the intersection of Campbell and Fifth St. Crossing 5th St. we’ll head North, up Campbell, to Speedway Blvd. we will then negotiate the intersection and head East on Speedway to Sawtelle St., turning South onto Sawtelle. Heading South down Sawtelle and finishing at Himmel Park.

AZ4NORML will have a booth at the 26th Annual Tucson Folk Festival, so come on down and join the fun! The festival has over 100 local, regional and national acts, and it’s always a great time to enjoy spring in southern Arizona. AZ4NORML welcomes volunteers to help staff our booth, handing out literature and showing our friendly face. Please contact us for one of our two or four hour shifts. If you’re just attending the festival, we will be centrally located and easy to find near the main stage, so be sure to stop by and say hello.

Friday, May 06- Tucson and the World Wide Marijuana March

Armory Park, Tucson Arizona, 3pm – 7pm
This year AZ4NORML has focused on the industrial uses, medicinal uses, nd the enhancement and safety of Cannabis when used recreationally. We will gather at Armory Park and start our ‘Walk’ at 4pm. We will proceed to Presidio Park where we will Rally. We will leave the Presidio and crossing the bridge over Congress St. up Broadway back to the Park where we will rally and socialize with music and more till 7pm.
Come on out of the greenhouse for cannabis, make a sign, bring a banner, and have a lot of fun.

Sidewalk Rally Route:
Start ~ 4pm Armory Park. We will proceed north on 6th ave to congress west on congress to Stone Ave. north on stone to Pennington west on Pennington to Church St. and Presidio Park where we will Rally. We will leave the Presidio thru the court building complex and crossing the bridge over Congress St. to La Placita Plaza then up Broadway Blvd back to Armory Park.

AZ4NORML Meeting – Saturday, May 14, 3PM

Please join us for the AZ4NORML monthly meeting on Saturday May 14, at the Ward 6 Council offices at 3202 E 1st Street, 1 block South of Speedway Blvd and 1 block East of Country Club Rd in Tucson. New members are always welcome. We will be discussing our upcoming plans, help us make a difference in the community. These meetings are free and open to the public and no memberships are required.

We are working on the schedules starting in June – watch this space for further information.

AZ4NORML will hold its weekly leadership meeting next Wednesday, April 20, at 3PM at the Ward 6 Council Offices. Please help us determine the future and become more effective. AZ4NORML sponsorships should be current in order to vote on important issues concerning the chapter.. Sponsorship is $50 a year or $5 a month and AZ4NORML sponsorships are encouraged in order to fund our ambitious outreach planned for 2011.

Cannabis Training University Comes to Arizona

Now that the “final” set of rules for Arizona’s Medical Marijuana have been published, opportunities for MMJ business are increasing weekly. To help prospective dispensary owners, the Cannabis Training University is touring the nation with business seminars, which cover topics including:

  • The current state of the laws, with Marc. J. Victor and Scott Campbell
  • Insurance, with MMJ Menu Inc. and Gas Lamp Insurance Co.
  • Product testing, with Arizona Analytical
  • Dispensary management
  • General good canna-business practices, with members of the CPA firm Gaintner, Bandler, Reed & Peters, PLC, from Phoenix.

The CTU seminar will come to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Phoenix on May 21 and the Sheraton Tucson Hotel on May 22. Early registration (before April 30) is $99, or $150 at the door. More info and registration at the CTU.
