Mike Liszewski, the Director of Government Affairs at Americans for Safe Access (ASA), contacted me just a little bit ago about the Senate version of the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, which I reported about to you earlier this week. The Senate version is scheduled to be introduced by Senator Mikulski tomorrow morning in the appropriations committee at 10:30 a.m. One of the targets for a good vote is our own Senator Roy Blunt.
I have reported to you over time the various meetings I have had with our federal representatives, and must say, Senator Blunt’s staff has been very moved by the various stories of medical marijuana patients in our state. While I have not had the chance to speak personally with the Senator about this, others on our team have, and the Senator has also been similarly moved.
However, this is clearly a big ask from a very prominent and conservative politician from our state. The Senator will not be taking a stand unless the people of Missouri let him know how important this issue really is.
The clock is counting down by the hours for this committee hearing, so we need calls into his office RIGHT NOW! Please ask for staffer Courtney Houston-Carter at 202-224-5721. If you would like more information about the amendment or a calling script for what you should say, ASA has resources available on hand.
