Exploring The Emerson Effect For Indoor Marijuana Growing

Emerson measured photosynthesis using both red and far-red light (infrared) light. He found that the combination of the two speed up photosynthesis. Furthermore, Emerson observed that the yield obtained using both red and far-red light simultaneously was much higher than the sum of the yields obtained with red and far-red light separately. The best way to achieve the Emerson effect is by using an infrared wavelength of above 700nm in order to accelerate the interaction of molecular energy.

Two different reaction centers or photochemical events are involved in photosynthesis. One event is driven by red light (660 nm) and the other is driven by far-red light (680+ nm). Optimal photosynthesis occurs when both events are driven simultaneously or in rapid succession. These two photochemical events operate in series to carry out photosynthesis optimally.

How can one obtain both red and far red light in their indoor garden? The best way to do this is to grow with LED grow lights that are configured using the scientific principles of the Emerson effect. It is important to have the wavelengths of light necessary for photosynthesis and to have them at the correct weighted average percentages in relation to one another. By growing with LED indoor grow lights that have the Optimal 8-band wavelength formulation in addition to the principles of the Emerson effect the trichome formation and budding production will be ramped up resulting in the optimal yield for the indoor plants.

  1. Ive grown with both hps & led & i can honestly day that with the led 5s….the light penentration (& using a super soil mix) I can easily get a pound off of any of my plants….even the autos get a better yield than hps.

  2. I grow with LEDs and got better yield than my old HPS system after my 3rd grow. Got rid of my 1000watt HPS and now am growing with a 900W from G8LED which has a power draw about half that. Maybe you aren’t using the right LEDs or just need more experience with them. I improved yield each time, there was a learning curve to be able to take advantage of the differences that LED provides opportunity for.

The best set-up I’ve seen was a 5 x 5 tent with a 600 watt HPS on each side and a 240 watt Blackstar LED in the front and back, all angled so their footprints overlapped… 12 – 16 plants per cycle, that guy was turnin’ out High Times quality weed on a regular basis.. but his greed and bragging got him busted since he lived in a non-legal state. He’s moved to a legal state since then, but that HPS-LED combo was the most tremendously effective grow system I’ve ever seen in operation.
    The HPS-LED combo is the key to phenomenal indoor growing success – from what I’ve seen..

  6. LED just isnt going to give you the results a HPS bulb will give you. End of story. Ive tested them all, I sell them all but I believe not in LED for optimum results and the cost does not justify switching over. Its a technology they are trying to push but just isnt up to par.
