Ream is the longtime cannabis activist from Ann Arbor that spearheaded the move to legalize medical marijuana in that city in 2004, but that is just a single jewel the a crown of achievement that Ream has earned. In the announcement notice, High Times said, “Chuck is a tireless advocate for cannabis, exhibiting more energy and enthusiasm for the cause than activists a third his age.”
Ask anyone in Michigan who the most revered Michigan activist is and they’ll answer without a hitch: “Chuck Ream.”- High Times Magazine
Chuck holds three university degrees, graduating magna cum laude as an undergraduate. He taught kindergarten in Monroe for 33 years, was elected five times as a trustee of Scio Township and co-founded the Safer Michigan Coalition. Ream has been involved with the Michigan Association of Compassion Centers, the Ann Arbor Medical Cannabis Guild and other organizations.
Ream will receive the award during Sunday evening’s presentations. The award is named for retired Harvard professor and psychiatrist Lester Grinspoon, a well-schooled author and expert on drug policy.
The event will be held at the Auto City Speedway on July 26 and 27. Details and tickets for the event are available HERE.
