How Do You Store Your Marijuana?

Marijuana Dispensary jarHow You Store Your Marijuana Stash Is Important

For most people in America, marijuana is expensive. To marijuana consumers, marijuana is a cherished item that is the center of attention. Yet, a majority of American marijuana consumers store their marijuana in plastic sandwich bags. I admit it, I am guilty myself. Ninjasmoker always criticizes me for not using the perfectly good mason jars next to our server. I guess you could say I’m just stubborn :)

What you store your marijuana in says a lot about you. For most of high school I had the same container that I kept all my marijuana in. It was a wooden Russian doll piece that split in half and could hold about 7 grams of marijuana. I will never forget the day I lost it. I still expect to come across it one of these days, with the prime sweet tooth strain still inside…For most people I know that don’t use plastic bags to store their marijuana in, their marijuana storage container of choice has a lot of personality. Rarely have I seen someone with a marijuana storage container that didn’t have distinguishing features that reflected the owners personality.

Some of my favorites are tins with awesome logos on them. Or antique jars that used to store grandma’s spices, and now it’s storing OG Kush. People that use the same container get a lot of crystal buildup, which is always impress. Plus once in awhile the owner can scrap it and enjoy quite a treat. There are countless people out there that store their marijuana in pill containers, mason jars, tupperware containers, etc. The craziest thing that I have ever seen someone store marijuana in is their beard. My hippie friend John would always store an eighth of marijuana in his beard when he left the house. Of course, that requires a pretty mean beard!

I will never forget the first time I saw a vacuum food sealer in action. My best friend sold a lot of marijuana during our teenage years, and in the mid 90’s he bought a vacuum food sealer to keep his inventory fresh. I was so impressed by how air tight and easy the seal was, and how fresh the marijuana smelled every time we would crack open the sealed bags. I have never done a side-by-side test, but the difference in keeping stuff fresh is undeniable when compared to regular bags

It always amuses me how marijuana consumers have resulted in a ‘jar technology evolution’ the likes of which haven’t been seen since the jam revolution (not a real thing fyi…). I think the most impressive marijuana storage container on the market right now is the Bud Vac. Let me be straight up — I do not know the people that own Bud Vac. I have only talked to the guy that was at the Spring Gathering. So for what it’s worth, readers can take my opinion as they wish, and try the product out themselves.

bud vac jarAs you can see in the picture, it’s a basic glass jar like we’ve all seen at grandma’s house. However, the secret is in the lid. The only way I can describe it is they put Reebok Pump technology in the lid. You put the product in the jar, close the lid, use the handheld device to extract the air, and you have the most airtight container on the market.

You have the benefit of a glass jar (no dioxins, etc), yet you have the air seal of a food vac bag (plus there’s no chance of crushing the product like with a food vac). It’s absolutely fantastic! The guy at the Spring Gathering was letting people try to open the container once it was sealed. I saw some monster dudes try and try, yet they could never open the jar. The guy giving the demonstration said it has only opened one time, and that’s because he didn’t pump the device as much as he could have.

For those of you that are worried about the seal being so strong that it won’t open, and your precious chronic is hostage to the glass prison, don’t fear! Just like we did with the Reebok Pumps of the early 90?s, you just press the rubber button on the jar and woosh, all the air comes out. Your stinky, sticky goodness is ready to consume, fresh as the day you put it in the jar. It’s the most simple, yet super bad ass idea I have seen. Below is a video from High Times that sheds more light on the subject of marijuana storage. 1. I found some great jars at the Goodwill. They are dark blue canisters that you latch down. I paid about four dollars for a large size one. I think that will do the job.

  2. BudVac not only is all glass and complete seal, but also removes the air inside the jar with a pump creating a full vacuum. We will soon have UV glass as well. Yes, I work for the company :) Try our product out and get 15% off with coupon code “weedblog” at checkout.
    Much Love.

  3. I am a big fan of the restash jar’s, company out of Oregon and they make these rubber silicone like material around a mason jar. Also comes with this eco looking child resistant lids, makes it look good and gives me some peace of mind knowing that kids won’t be able to get into my stash. I bought them off mason-re.com

  4. Herbidor

It depends on what you want from your container. Are you just looking for a container that doesn’t stink up the house? Do you want something that keeps the uv lights out? Do your herbs need a little longer cure? Do you want to bring dry herbs back to life? Do you want to take control of your herbs and have them the way YOU like them?

I’ve been making these for awhile now and they seem to be the trick. These are tempered glass canning jars (perfect seal) that are dipped in a liquid rubber twice in color and then twice in black (4 coats). This rubber coating prevents the clang and sliding around that glass jars do. They also prevent uv light from damaging your precious herbs, it also keeps prying eyes away.

The best part with the Herbidor is the lid. These have a high quality analog hygrometer inserted in the lids. This allows you to monitor the moisture trapped inside the jar and make adjustments as needed. 62% seems to be the magic number that most growers are trying to hit, I find 62% a little too dry for my taste. I supply each jar with a 62% Boveda pack that keeps the humidity at a steady 62% for around 3 months. I also include a mini humidifier that’s secured to the inside wall of your jar and with a drop or two of DISTILLED water you can bring the moister content up to precisely where you want your herbs to be.

  5. Love the antique jars! Very classy. For long-term storage (up to a year sans trichome degradation) we recommend SoldierBags- the thickest, most advanced bags on the market. No one else carries our NASA-developed mylar bags. Heat sealable and can be used in most vac seal machines. Odor proof, light proof, moisture proof. Great for storing large amounts and for securely and smartly transporting product. http://www.soldierbags.com/

  6. I would recommend using a grinder with a Neodymium magnetic lid that is air tight. A grinder like the Golden Gate Grinder does this, or the Space Case. Yeah, sure, it is a little pricier than most grinders, but they get good reviews on http://www.bestgrinderguide.com

  7. I’m a daily smoker. Had a friend nurse who tested me from the time I stopped smoking to get a job at a place in Longmont CO. Luckily, they let me start and said I had to get the drug test by a certain date.

It took THREE AND A HALF WEEKS, not using any real flush except LOTS of water, before my nurse friend said my blood would pass, and it did. I arranged it ASAP but casually, and sucked a doob the size of Fat Freddy’s Cat the night after the test.

Whew! Pot will get you through times of no money better than money….

  8. If you use a weed grinder to make kief or have a better smoking experience, you will need an airtight jar for your stash. I personally like the screw top glass jars that also have a rubber seal, for me they look classy and I also can see inside it.

  9. Leslie Clement on

I use several sizes of CVaults. They use Boveda packs for humidity control. If you don’t want to spend the money on a CVault, just buy the Boveda packs and place one in an airtight container along with your herb.

  10. Just looking at the picture I see the valve/pump is a VacuVin wine sealer. You can get a pair of those in amazon for about $10 with the pump, and make your own glass jar a vacumn one!

  11. well I just did some in seal-a-meal bags I did take out the air, it dosen’t looked crushed but when I do open it will it fall apart (cushed)? And would it be better to put in freezer also? I’m kind of lost I just started useing it for medical reasons. I could just put it in a seal a meal bag and not take out the air. Would that be better in the long run

  12. I have found some containers on amazon that are small and are airtight: SURE LID containers. And they are cheap.

  13. I use a small airtight Vitamin jar. It’s truly pocket size and has a button to release air. Everytime I open that sucker up, Heaven just impacts my nostrils.

  14. If your looking to store your cannabis away so that not even a dog can smell whats inside.
Id recommend that you went to GonzoBags.com. These bags are truly scent proof and can be used to store your bud in while keeping it away from any sniffers.

  15. Wow, that Bud Vac jar seems cool!  For anyone with more than a jarful, check out the new Black Magic Odor Barrier Bag- it is like a turkey bag, but thicker, more odor proof, and black to provide maximum protection.  To get a FREE SAMPLE just leave an address on our website contact form at GroGroGadgets.com!
