Leaked UN Document Shows Many Countries Ready To End The Drug War

VIENNA – A leaked draft of the UN’s long-term strategy to combat drug abuse shows a number of countries oppose the current prohibitionist model and favor a public health approach to drug use rather than a law enforcement one. The draft is currently being compiled by the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs and will be released in 2016 as the basis for the international organization’s 10-year plan for reducing narcotic drug abuse.

“Such documents are rarely seen by the public, so provide a rare glimpse into just how tenuous and contentious the supposed consensus on drug policy really is,” said Major Neill Franklin (Ret.), head of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, a group of law enforcement officials opposed to the war on drugs. “Despite tremendous pressure to support the global war on drugs, these countries can no longer be silent about the harms of prohibition.”

Countries as diverse as Columbia, Guatemala, Mexico, Norway, Ecuador, Switzerland, Venezuela – even the EU itself – are calling for alternatives to prohibition, including harm reduction models and greater treatment for those in need. Their reasons include that the war on drugs supports cartels and paramilitary groups; negatively impacts the global economy and fosters the creation of illegal markets; encourages the spread of disease; results in human rights abuses and is ineffective at reducing drug use and abuse.

Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is a group of police, DEA officials, customs agents, prosecutors, judges and other law enforcement officials who, after fighting the war on drugs, now advocate for its end

  1. We have enough to convince our own politicians not to listen to UN interference; they not the UN would be directing tanks and internal military action if individual North American provinces, territories and states all legalized it over federal concerns that might be UN Driven

  2. The UN Needs to keep its’ swelled ego and bullying out of individual nation’s politics. If we want healthy happy citizens who feel safe from cartels and gangsters, UN has no power to tell us we would be in the wrong if we did it anyway we thought fit to do it. If the method works, you should promote it and encourage all nations to adopt it.

  3. The UN needs to speed it up, because people are needlessly dying and suffering everyday by the millions. It’s geneocide of mankind upon itself, based upon ignorance among the masses.

  4. I agree Jose, I remember KENT STATE and it’s going to get more UGLY in this country than in Syria right now!! However, Congress has NO POWER to make a treaty with any country contrary to the Sovereign Citizen’s Constitution ‘rights’ and the Fifth and Sixth Articles of Amendment to Our Constitution for self-government! Of course, the reality is; Congress and the LEADERSHIP (HA!) in Washington are like the proverbial “600 pound gorilla”, they sit anywhere they want to!

  5. Federal laws won’t matter when the UN treaties against a weed mandate tanks and troops roll in to Colorado to tell you what they think about your rights.

  6. That may or may not be, however, I’m talking about the FEDERAL DRUG LAWS! NOBODY but nobody (if you are a Sovereign Citizen of the United States) has the power to tell you that you can’t pull a weed and smoke it, bake brownies with it, or wipe your ass with it! “FEDERAL-LAW” is what the ‘sheeple” condone, no more, no less! Besides, Mr. Justice SCALIA didn’t author America’s “WAR on CITIZENS”, Mr. Justice LEWIS F. POWELL (appointed to the Supremes by “Tricky-Dick) did on December 09, 1975 when he penned for the unanimous approval of the entire BURGER Supreme Court that the isolated and truncated phrase of “unlawful for any person” to mean, quote; “By its own terms * * * reaches any person”! To make matters worse, Justice POWELL went on to make his OWN CONCLUSION OF LAW that; “841 was reserved for prosecution of those outside to legitimate distribution chain [and] the severe penalties provided for in 841(b) [are] for those seeking to avoid regulation entirely by not registering”.There is NOT ONE SYLLABLE of language in the entire Legislative History of Public Law: 91-513 that even suggests that the penalties proscribed by the Ninety-First Congress were any person at random who smoked a joint, did a line of coke, or put a needle in his vein! READ U.S. v. Moore: 423 U.S. 122 (1975)

  7. Scalia, author of the “drug war exception” to the Constitution, will use the same reefer madness logic to declare that UN treaties trump state marijuana law in Colorado.

  8. Where is the actual leaked document? I would like to see the full list of countries, not “Countries as diverse as…”

  9. Except that Uruguay is only allowing it’s citizens to purchase legally and not tourists. Pres. Mujica has made it clear that he doesn’t want “drug tourism”.

  10. Adjudicated case law: “Federal courts are courts of
limited jurisdiction” writes the Honorable Mr. Justice ANTONIN SCALIA, in Kekkonen
    v. Guardian Life Ins. Co.; 128 L.Ed.2d.393, (1994) “[t]hey possess only that power authorized
by the Constitution or statute which is not to be expanded by judicial decree”
    . (Emphasis added)

    Supreme Law of the
    land: Various federal “powers”
are given to each branch of the central government and from the very beginning
it has been fundamental doctrine that this “[g]overnment is * * * one of enumerated
    powers”. McCulloch v. Maryland:
    4 Wheat (17 U.S.) 316 405 (1819)

That is to say; this doctrine posits
that the federal government does not have, in
any of its branches, any “inherent”
    or “intrinsic” domestic governing
    power.

It is self-evident to the naked eye that the OFFENSES and PENALTY statute, Title 21, United States Code, Section
841 contains NO JURISDICTIONAL ELEMENT establishing the unquestionable fact
that the federal cause of action is in pursuance of Ninety-First Congress’
desire to regulate the commerce of controlled substances.

Criminal FRAUD: For over 40-years, the executive and judicial branch of
the government of the United States has/have operated America’s Luciferian and Moralistic “WAR on DRUGS” by arresting,
prosecuting, and imposing the medieval sentence of years and years of
imprisonment in federal gulags under color of the most repugnant CRIMINAL
    FRAUD ever perpetrated and
conducted by a government against its own people since Adolf Hitler and Joseph
    Stalin!

  12. Once Uruguay Legalizes I expect a bunch of countries in South America to move in that direction. South America is big on tourism dollars and will want to cash in.

J U R Y – N U L L I F I A T I O N, refuse too convict anyone charged with non-violent drug offenses. The government will continue dragging their feet, funneling huge sums of public monies into a few private hands, despite the complete failure of drug prohibition, which is responsible for creating too date, 45+ million almost unemployeable individuals strapped with felony convictions, destroying families, creating the very violence which have taken most cities by storm There was little need to have a gun in this country prior too the drug trade expanding and individuals needing to protect themselves from being robbed combined with Hollywoods glorification of guns
