I received the following press release over the weekend. Congrats to our friends in Long Beach!:
Long Beach now has a chapter of (NORML)! The organization shall promote a better understanding of the medical, legal, environmental, economic and civil libertarian arguments for more reasonable treatment of cannabis in the laws of the state of California and the United States.
Our first meeting is scheduled on August 22, at the Panorama Lounge at the Long Beach Airport Holiday Inn. We will be meeting monthly from here on out and hope to help elect candidates that embrace the will of the People.
Long Beach NORML is lead by Executive Director and Long Beach 1st District City Council Candidate Jason Aula. Aula also drafted the Long Beach Patients Access Act of 2013, a municipal ballot measure proposal presently being qualified for a special election, which does not include a tax.
NORML Long Beach is promoting safe and legal access to cannabis. We engage a multifaceted strategy public education, impact litigation, grassroots development and advocacy, media campaigns, and direct support services. In terms of policy and marijuana Long Beach is in the Stone Age compared to municipal jurisdictions such as Berkeley and Oakland, Long Beach NORML intends to change that.
