A new study published in the most recent issue of the journal Phytomedicine, and published online by the National Institute of Health, has found that cannabis-based medicines may provide a cure for colon cancer.

For the study, researchers “investigated the effect of a standardized Cannabis sativa extract with high content of cannabidiol (CBD), here named CBD BDS, i.e. CBD botanical drug substance, on colorectal cancer cell proliferation and in experimental models of colon cancer in vivo.”

While conducting the study, it was found that; “CBD reduced cell proliferation in tumoral, but not in healthy, cells. In vivo, CBD reduced AOM-induced preneoplastic lesions and polyps as well as tumour growth in the xenograft model of colon cancer.”

Researchers conclude that “CBD attenuates colon carcinogenesis and inhibits colorectal cancer cell proliferation via CB1 and CB2 receptor activation. The results may have some clinical relevance for the use of Cannabis-based medicines in cancer patients.”

The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of Naples Federico II in Italy and the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, can be found by clicking here.

  3. Hello Eric! Congrats on being able to overcome such a large obstacle. I just wanted to point out that they’re talking about CBD helping those with colon cancer. When you smoke cannabis, you’re primarily activating the THC. Lately, strands with higher CBD percentages are becoming more prevalent as they have been found to combat a high number of ailments without as much of the psychoactive effects that THC causes.

Hi Eric, I’m glad you survived colon cancer. I am a survivor too. Not sure if you heard of the Colon Cancer Alliance, it is the only patient support based organization for colon cancer. Go to http://www.ccalliance.org and check us out on Facebook. Best wishes!

  5. Don’t know if I agree with this one. I’ve smoked daily for 32 years and was diagnosed with colon cancer last year at 49 years old. I had 13 polyps and 10″ removed from my colon. One polyp was cancerous. Maybe smoking it doesn’t work and it must be taken internally. Colon cancer at least for me was 90% diet.

  6. This has to be a joke… I have a load of stomach issues and ANY modified, refined, or unnatural food is bad for me and will make me sit on the toilet. Any responsible doctor would advice you to eat more organic and natural foods and to stay away from anything questionable and irritating for your gut.

  7. I’ll be sure my FORMER gastroenterologist knows this. I fired him after he told me he was sure that eating GMO foods is fine… Yeah they’re fine, fine for keeping him in business!
