Protest Chuck Winder’s Presentation To PERMANENTLY Ban Marijuana In Idaho

compassionate idaho chuck winder medical marijuana banThere are people out there that feel that pursuing medical and recreational marijuana reform before 2016 is a bad idea. I would point to people like Idaho politician Chuck Winder who are more than willing to take advantage of that strategy while we wait. Below is more information via Compassionate Idaho:

****ACTION ALERT****

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 07:30 AM

Idaho Senate Affairs Committee Auditorium, Idaho State House

What: PROTEST against Chuck Winder’s presentation of RS 21862 and 21872 to PERMANENTLY ban Marijuana in Idaho, regardless its application– meaning recreational, spiritual, or MEDICAL.

NEW UPDATE FROM 2/14/12: UPDATE: The secretary for the Senate Affairs has Just let me know that we are scheduled for the 20th in the Senate Auditorium at 8am. They have one short thing in front of us and then those two bills until 10am.

There will be limited speaking available as the slots fill. Please send a notice that you would like to speak to sstaf@senate.idaho.gov You will then need to sign up again when physically present. You may also e-mail your testimony to this address or turn it in in person.

Please sign up to speak.  These are 3 minute testimony’s.

**From 2/7/12:

THIS MOVED ON TO COMMITTEE. THEY WANT MORE COMMENT. PLEASE COME TO THE COMMITTEE HEARING. THE EVENT WILL BE UPDATED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH THAT INFORMATION. PLEASE CONTACT THE SENATORS. THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION IS BELOW! IF WE WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN THERE, THIS WOULD HAVE MOVED TO THE FLOOR FOR A VOTE. WE NEED TO KILL IT IN COMMITTEE!! OUR PRESENCE THERE WAS ALREADY A SMALL VICTORY BECAUSE THIS DIDN’T GO TO THAT VOTE. WE NEED ALL OF YOUR VOICES!

Here is Senator Winder’s contact information~ 208-332-1307 His email is c.winder@senate.idaho.gov Call his office and Tell him to withdraw this at once!

Where: E-mail, Phone Calls, and your Presence at the next hearing!

Why: Our State Elected Officials are supposed to represent us, Idahoans, and make our wishes and demands know and attempt to see them effected. Chuck Winder has no business attempting to ban marijuana in Idaho, since a 2010 Clear Research Poll showed 74% of Idahoans polled to be supportive of medical marijuana legalization, and there is a healthy percentage of us who would see it legalized entirely.

Our neighbors in Washington have spoken up and made responsible marijuana possession legal, as did Colorado. Many cities across the nation have decriminalized marijuana possession and use, or made it ‘lowest priority’– HAILEY, IDAHO being one of them. With 18 states allowing medical marijuana, and multiple states preparing to introduce legislation to legalize it in the coming year, it is absolutely a step backward for Mr. Winder to introduce this bill.

If you’re tired of waiting for Idaho to catch up with modern medical scientific research that proves marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and a better medicine than most currently legal prescription medications, if you’re tired of being considered a criminal because you choose to use a plant, if you don’t want to see your children fighting the same battle we are now, SHOW UP tomorrow and SPEAK UP for your right to choose!! BRING A SIGN AND LET OUR REPRESENTATIVES KNOW THAT IDAHO SUPPORTS MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION!!!

  1. Don’t get too bent out of shape over political grandstanding. This one is so far out in La-La land that the only mystery is, “on which planet in what alternate universe does Mr. Winder make his home?

  2. Almighty Dollar on

To paraphrase Thomas Frank, “what’s the matter with Idaho”? Gun nuts, preppers and aryan nation guys are OK, but pot is bad?

  3. No government or ruler has ever successfully banned any substance/activity and the destruction this particular prohibition has done to our society is the very same that ended every prior attempt at a moral/ethical prohibition down through history. Prohibition has destroyed nations, rulers and religions and this guy wants more of it..
The learning curve of poiticians must look like the horizon,,flatlined.

  4. Thinking Clearly on

These people are protecting their own self serving interests by enshrining their cash cow as a permanent source of income. These people are profiteers sucking the life’s blood from the public trust. They have no regard for the health and safety of the public. Their own jobs and pocketbooks are all that matter here. These prohibitionist crooks need to be stopped.

  5. Don’t give the opposition time to regroup. Make them fight. Every fight they get in weakens them and strengthens us.

Medical Marijuana prohibition is a crime against humanity and a violation of the religious precept – heal the sick.

    Pass it on.

  6. Ban away man,it WILL not stop us from smokin…….Pot has been PROVEN to reduce pain folks suffer from the effects of cancer,Fibromyalgia,;the list goes on..and how many people do you see locked up behind violent crime after smokin a bowl ? NONE!!!!
