San Diego Committee to Review Medical Marijuana This Week

3

I received the following e-mail from San Diego’s ASA Chapter, and I thought I would pass it along:

On Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 2pm the San Diego City Committee on Land Use and Housing will take up the report from the San Diego Medical Marijuana Task Force (MMTF) as an Action Item. The committee will be discussing the MMTF Zoning Recommendations and will consider the input of the Community Planning Groups in deciding on what to recommend to the San Diego City Council.

This is one of the last stages in the process of developing guidelines/regulations for medical cannabis dispensing collectives and cooperatives in San Diego before the issue is taken up by the San Diego City Council. Your input and presence at this meeting is critical and most urgently needed. Please mark your calendars and be there to speak out during both public comment and during the discussion for Item 8.

Prior to the meeting please send an email to the following council members who are on this committee, urging them to adopt the Task Force recommendations as they are and not to vote for a moratorium, a ban, or any kind of caps on numbers or other unconstitutional restrictions.

The San Diego Community wants safe, reliable, regulated access.

Here is a sample email you could use:

Dear City Council Member,

Thank you for the hard work with regards to medical marijuana regulations in the City of San Diego. On Wednesday March 24, 2010, the Land Use and Housing Committee, which you are a part of, will be taking up the issue of Medical Marijuana Recommendations. There are many thousands of patients in San Diego who are looking to you for help in protecting and ensuring safe access in San Diego. The recommendations of the San Diego Medical Marijuana Task Force are based on input from the entire San Diego Community and are in line with what patients need.

A moratorium, a ban, or any action limiting patient’s rights will only serve to delay and complicate the adoption of safe and reliable regulations. Please vote to adopt the recommendations of the Medical Marijuana Task Force as they are.

Respectfully,

Your Constituent

Send an email and let the Land Use and Housing Committee know that San Diegans want safe, reliable access, to the medicine that helps so many. Urge the committee to vote on recommending the San Diego City Council adopt the MMTF Regulations.

  1. I think this weeks meeting by Land Use and Housing regarding the Medical Marijuana Task Force MMTF is a step in the right direction to Legalize and REGULATE MEDICAL MARIJUANA. It is a necessary step to establish zoning precedents and make marijuana consumption minimally invasive to the surrounding community. Medical Marijuana is a good thing to legalize but obviously not at the expense of the community at large. Check out http://mrbuds.com .
