Supernova is pleased to present a FREE seminar for the POC community focused on subjects relating to medical cannabis, legalization, and prison reform.

The evening was created in response to the clear need for involvement of communities of color in the legislative efforts regarding cannabis and how to participate in the cannabis market being created in California. The event will have two panels: one focused on the current state of affairs with an overview of the relevant legislation, regulations, and local politics, and the other will center on the future: the industry opportunities here in California, and how to get involved.

Inquiries regarding the event and sponsorship opportunities should be sent to [email protected].

Panel 1
Legal Overview of California’s Cannabis Climate: Laws, Regulations, & Civic Engagement
6:30-7:30 pm
Hear from some of the foremost authorities on California’s current legal climate facing the budding cannabis economy in a discussion of the existing legal structures and their impact on people of color in California. The panel will be followed by a short Q&A segment during which audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists and provide feedback to members of the cannabis community as to their feelings on the subject matter. The goal is to foster an open dialog surrounding these issues that can be captured and shared with our legislators.

Panel 2
Cannabis Means Business: Local Entrepreneurs Share Industry Experiences
7:45-8:30 pm
This panel helps bring to the forefront the real life experiences of those who have been operating under the challenging legal and regulatory framework highlighted in Panel 1. Now that the audience has a foundational understanding in what the issues and opportunities are for people of color in the cannabis community, this panel will help highlight the multitude of ways people of color are getting involved as entrepreneurs.

About the Shades of Green series: Shades of Green is a panel presented by Supernova, an organization for women of color in cannabis. Headquartered in Oakland, California, Supernova will be taking this two panel show on the road with presentations throughout California in the coming months.
