I just got done watching a new medical marijuana ad from the Show-Me Cannabis campaign. It’s very well done. One of the most effective things that I have seen when it comes to changing minds about marijuana is putting a face to prohibition. It’s much easier to not like something or oppose something when you think that it doesn’t have anything to do with people you know. But when prohibition is personalized, and people fully learn how those that they admire and care for have been harmed by prohibition…that’s very powerful stuff.
That’s exactly what this video does, as you will see. It shows a variety of people that use medical marijuana, and for a variety of reasons too. A lot of the faces are not ones that I would imagine a lot of voters associate with medical marijuana, which is important because there is obviously no one-size-fits-all medical marijuana patient. Below is a bit about the video via Show-Me Cannabis, including a link to the video. On Giving Tuesday, give to Show-Me Cannabis if you are able. They are doing great work:
We now know that cannabis can serve as an effective treatment for numerous medical conditions, from the side effects of chemotherapy to chronic pain and epilepsy (among many, many others). However, the state of Missouri still treats patients who use cannabis to treat their debilitating conditions as criminals.
That’s why we created our new video advertisement “Guilty,” which highlights the absurdity of locking up the sick and dying as if they were threats to public safety. You can check it out here on the social fundraising site Gladitood.
Today is also Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to giving back to the community, so I hope that after you’ve watched the video you will help support our efforts to educate and advocate for medical cannabis in Missouri by sharing it with friends and making a contribution of $10, $25, $50, or more. We can make a difference for those most in need, but not without your help!
