Nine People You Might Not Think That Want Marijuana Laws Changed

One of my favorite websites out there is for ‘The Marijuana Majority.’ According to their website, “Marijuana Majority exists to help more people understand the simple fact that supporting commonsense solutions like regulating marijuana sales and ending marijuana arrests are mainstream positions and that there’s no reason those who support reform should be afraid to say so.”

“We provide resources that make it easy for individual supporters to take part in actively building the Marijuana Majority by contacting celebrities, elected officials and opinion leaders to encourage them to add their voices to the debate.”

Below are some of the most surprising additions to The Majority, which originally appeared in Tom Angell’s article on The Huffington Post:

I don’t trust a single one of these people. There has got to be something more sinister at work here than these ultra conservative types suddenly realizing that cannabis is harmless. But whatever their impetus may be, it’s always nice to have a few more voices on our side.

    • Well for Koch it makes perfect sense. He is a libertarian.

  • Robertson should smoke him some White Widow. He’d see Jesus.

  • Gomer 1

After Vietnam in 1968-1969 the VA told me to come back in six months when I went to them for help with PTSD…….I smoked weed to help me function and overcome my anger and rages. It is ridiculous to prosecute someone for consuming a plant that helps them. Beats hell out of alcohol..

  • It is most amusing. The anti-prohibitionists who usually want more government in this case want less.

BTW it is always wise to be nice to your allies. Until after the war is over.

And FWIW I have been stumping hard for legalization for the last 15 years (look me up on MAPS and my blogs). I LIKE Palin.

  • There ‘s alot more than that,Morgan Freeman,Larry King and more.

  • Steve VanDerschelden

Why is it when a conservitive comes out for legalization people get paranoid and wonder about motives. I am aa card carrying member of the GOPand have smoked for 30+yrs. I find it strange that a lot of people think conservitives cannot be for legalization because of our political beliefs and affiliations.

    • I also find it strange

    • It might be because pot smokers are on the GOP’s list of approved hate groups.

    • I don’t get how republicans aren’t for legalization, I thought you guys hate the federal government, if a state says it’s legal, who’s uncle sam to say it’s not? Let’s bring the power back to the states, this is something we can work across the line on. The tax revenue would be nice, would also cause the US Mexico border to be safer.

the GOP just claims they are for smaller government They love the war on drugs because it gives them more power to control people and steal their money

      • TheReb

No, that is just the kind of message they send. They are definitely FOR the federal government, the more powerful and invasive the better. The two major political parties use emotional appeals and other means to get people to consent to, and even support whatever it is they want to do. You have to be naive to trust mainstream parties and politicians. We are cattle to them. Their power is derived from their secrecy, and they know that we could stop them easily. That is why they will tell use whatever it is that we want to hear.

        • TheReb

*That is why they tell ‘us’ whatever it is that we want to hear.*

  • MamaSaree

Check their stock portfolios…bet the all have heavy investment in the new companies that are going to be regulating sales and providing the equipment for those regulations to be handled with….BIG MONEY IS TO BE MADE…AND THEY KNOW IT.

  • WOW those are some of the last people I would’ve expected to see. That’s awesome

  • We do not care who endorses the natural life of this planet, including the use of all plants to benefit our life.Relegalize and some millions of us will just keep n doing and being as we are now. The damned drug war Rico Nixon set in motion is stupid to obey. Jury Nullification is legal, has been hidden illegaly in Courts, but is now being restored. Simple, juries are refusing trial to prosecuters as they do not agree the law is valid.Canabis is a medicine, an industrial wonder in varied ways. Restore to farms, restore the land .
. The value added will be a fair and approprite income to the states. The medical costs for old style new age medicinces will be reduced as natural homeopathic cures are restored to common use. The added value of an industry we already know exists will be of help in reversing the new age catstrophe of global warming. Forwad Ho in this return to sanity. Yes, President Obama really is our President.

one of my headmates (we are multiple) prefers to smoke weed. it helps her with anxiety and she is one of the most productive members of our multiplicity system

  • allen

plan n simple, anyone in govt that doesnt want marijuana legal, must be hiding something illegal, like being a drug dealer n they dont want americans stopping their money supply!

    • TheReb

I’m afraid it is even more devious than that. Control is what they desire. We are modern slaves, in bondage by consent (or at least apathy and inaction).

  • GOP believes in TRUE freedom…not government controlled freedom like the dems

    • TheReb

No, that is just what they want you to believe that they believe. GOP are the same power-hungry, corrupted pigs as whatever political party you oppose. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. They will tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get your support. You and your family and all your friends are nothing but cattle to them. Try something new, like a politician who is not sold to the highest bidder.

      • Palin went after the corrupt in her own party. She may be a tad more honest than your average politician.

As to a politician not sold to the highest bidder – know any?

    • Elvira Malgorzata

      fer sher grrlie,
      FOX news never lies.

    • Well that is what they say. It is not what they do. Pity.

  • unity100

That ‘war’ was stupid from the start anyway. stupid, stupid. even moronic. Also hemp should be used in wide-scale.

  • Rick Simpson Run from the Cure, Phoenixtears.com , Shona Band Live free or Die, Cash Hyde

  • BIGJAKE1965

YOU NEVER HEAR OF REPORTS OF DOMESTIC DISPUTES CAUSE SOMEONE WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MARIJUANA NOR DO YOU HEAR OF ANYONE DYING AFTER SMOKING MARIJUANA, CAUSE IT HAS NONE OF THE KILLING CHEMICALS THAT REGULAR TOBACCO HAS NOR DO YOU HEAR ABOUT SMOKING AND DRIVING…GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO GET ITS HEAD OUT OF ITS ASS AND STOP LISTENING TO UNTRUTHS FROM PEOPLE THAT DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT BACK IN THE EARLY 1900’S…EDUCATION HAS COME A LONG WAY IN A HUNDRED YEARS OR SO…THE GOVERNMENT ONLY WANTS TO KEEP IT ILLEGAL SO THEY CAN PAY LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE WAR ON DRUGS…REGULAR TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL ARE A MORE DEADLY DRUG THAN POT IS.

    • Elvira Malgorzata

if you’re trying to make a point, stop shouting!
