I received the following alert out of DC:
While D.C. has an effective medical marijuana program, there is still room for improvement. Two bills are pending to do just that, but they’re stalled in the Judiciary Committee. Click here to urge all the Judiciary Committee members to make sure these bills move forward NOW.
B21-192 would require lab testing so that patients know what they are getting and that their medicine is free of contaminants, while B21-210 would allow reciprocity for out-of-state patients and remove the arbitrary cap on the number of plants a cultivation center can grow, alleviating shortages and driving down prices.
Unfortunately, Judiciary Committee Chairman McDuffie has not scheduled either bill for a hearing or vote, although one of the bills has been before the committee for seven months. Other members of the committee also have the authority to request that the bills be considered at a special meeting. Please ask your council members to support these bills and expand compassionate access to D.C.’s program.
The reciprocity bill could also benefit residents in neighboring states that have medical marijuana laws but do not yet have dispensaries open. If you have friends or family in Maryland, Virginia, or Pennsylvania who might be able to benefit if D.C. allowed out of state patients access, please forward this message to them as well.
