Washington Attorney General’s Office Gives A $110,000 Grant Related To Marijuana

9

marijuana science research cannabisFor so long state governments have enforced marijuana prohibition. Now in Washington and Colorado, they are tasked with implementing marijuana legalization. There’s more that goes into that than people realize. Most state employees, in any state, have been brainwashed by reefer madness propaganda their whole lives, so it’s a dramatic paradigm shift to be in the position Colorado and Washington employees are in now. Washington was so lost that it had to hire a ‘pot czar’ to oversee how things would work.

Washington State Attorney General’s Office recently gave out a $110,000 grant to help health care providers learn more about marijuana’s pain relieving properties. I find it interesting that a state government is funding something like this, considering the MASSIVE amount of information out there on the topic. State governments have tried so hard to deny and bury science relating to marijuana’s medical benefits. It took ending marijuana prohibition in Washington altogether before the state would recognize that marijuana is medicine, and now they are playing catch up.

This will be significant though, because when the project inevitably finds out the truth, it might lead to other states doing the same thing. The truth and facts are clearly on the side of marijuana reform. Below are links to marijuana scientific studies that we have published in the past. If only I could get paid $110,000 for providing the information…..ha!:

  2. Since marijuana dependence happens in such a small percentage of the population, I can’t see where Dr. Roffman’s work would apply to the general public or what she would have to teach doctors (about cannabis or addiction). I’m assuming that doctors are already aware of the disease of addiction — they just don’t know what to do about it. Teaching doctors about the uses of cannabis behind closed doors is not about education. Doctors don’t need an in-office visit, that’s what computers and seminars and professional education are for.

However, if Dr. Roffman were going to teach doctors who treat addiction how to use cannabis to help patients break their addiction, well, that would be a good thing. I’m guessing that’s not gonna happen though.

I don’t know if it was a set-up, as you suggest, but if you’ve been tracking this for 3 years, you should be able to find some sort of proof. But what would you do with that proof? The grant has already been paid. But since these people are going to be working under a grant from the AG’s office, then their movements and financial info should be open to the public.

  3. I’m going to pull copies of every one of them! Some have nothing to do with pain treatment.

Beatriz Carlini, PhD, is the one who got the grant. Her degree is in “social physiology”, and her expertise is smoking cessation. No experience in pain treatment, pain management, pain counseling or diabetes….she’s not a physician. She’s involved in drug treatment. Can’t wait to read the grant(s)!

The ADAI is the largest single benefactor of I-502 and was one of its major supporters. (Imagine that! Now you know why these earmarks are nothing more than bribes)

  4. Deborah Plumeria Brown Bohne on

Indeed, it shouldn’t take the researchers long since they already have all the data. Thank you so kindly. ;-)

  5. Court order on where the funds should go:

“…funds shall be distributed as grants to be used to provide direct treatment, medication, or counseling to Washington residents suffering from chronic pain, including chronic pain associated with diabetes; or for research regarding the treatment or management of chronic pain…”

Yes….they mentioned that cannabis worked for pain and then immediately pointed to “marinol”?

This is from the I-502 “Sponsor” site: http://www.newapproachwa.org/content/sponsors

“One emphasis of Roffman’s research has been the design and evaluation of interventions in the field of substance abuse, with a particular focus on marijuana dependence. Roffman is co-editor of Cannabis Dependence: Its Nature, Consequences, and Treatment published in 2006 by Cambridge University Press.”

Perfect person to teach doctors about cannabinoid therapy?

This whole thing was a set-up from the beginning. We said that for three years and no one was listening.

    Steve

  6. Court-ordered use of funds from December 2012 legal settlement with Pfizer:

“…funds shall be distributed as grants to be used to provide direct treatment, medication, or counseling to Washington residents suffering from chronic pain, including chronic pain associated with diabetes; or for research regarding the treatment or management of chronic pain…”

The ADAI is one of 8 beneficiaries of this over $1 million dollar settlement. If you’d like to know who else received these alleged “grants” from the Attorney General’s Office (it’s interesting reading):

    http://www.atg.wa.gov/CyPresAwardsGrants.aspx#.UncpPG7n_IV

  7. Johnny, you’re normally more on top of story. Please….reread the story. Read exactly WHERE the money is going and exactly what it’s for. They’re talking about “training doctors”? It is the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute! Nearly all the classes they teach are related to drug and alcohol abuse. The ADAI includes Dr. Roger Roffman, a phd that was one of the sponsors of 1-502. I debated him several times. He’s made his living throughout his career collecting grants from the government to publish studies about “marijuana addiction”…not about “cannabinoid therapy”! The ADAI also happens to be one of the biggest financial benefactors of I-502….one of the NINE illegal earmarks in the 502 initiative is going to the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute.

If you read the story carefully you’ll see that the ADAI is going to teach them to recommend the “legal cannabinoids”….rather than the illegal ones that come from the illegal plant. This is a training/indoctrination/informercial for the new pharmaceutical cannabinoids, including the new cannabinoid nasal spray being produced by a local Seattle company. Where’s the original source for this funding? Pfizer.

Was this a grant from the AG’s office that anyone could have applied for, or was it a “gift” to these I-502 supporters on behalf of Big Pharma….with the cooperation of the State Attorney General. The University of Washington has a great medical school and they have cannabinoid research going on there. Why was it the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute that was chosen to teach doctors about advantages of cannabinoid therapy when they have no expertise in that area, unless you count “marijuana addiction”?

As we always do….we’ll be chasing down all the documents surrounding this rather bizarre story and we’ll let you know what we find. At the moment it smells like rotten fish.
