Why Doesn’t The Weed Blog Post More Marijuana Busts?

DEA RaidMarijuana Busts On The Weed Blog

About once every couple of weeks I will get an e-mail from someone asking why I didn’t post an article about ‘fill in the blank’ marijuana bust. The answer is very simple – Ninjasmoker and I don’t like highlighting victories of the opposition. Whether activists realize it or not, we are at war with the anti-marijuana crowd. The war on marijuana has been raging for decades, and there are numerous people busted for marijuana every day. I feel like highlighting these busts would be highlighting tragedy, and that’s not something I wish to do.

Imagine if you went to your favorite sport team’s website, and all you saw was highlight videos for other teams. I know if I went to my beloved Portland Trailblazer’s website and all I saw was footage of Lebron James dunking and Kobe Bryant hitting three pointers in my player’s faces, I would be confused and turned off. It’s the same way I feel about going to a marijuana website and seeing 90% of their articles are about marijuana busts.

This is not to say that The Weed Blog has never, ever posted a marijuana bust article, because we have. However, those marijuana raids had significant public policy ramifications, such as the raid at Highlands Ranch in Colorado. That marijuana raid was the first one after the now worthless Ogden memo that was issued by the federal Department of Justice. The raid was the first sign that the Obama Administration was not going to stick to it’s promises.

We also covered the busts of Snoop Dogg, Willy Nelson, and that guy from The Social Network movie (I can say his name, but how many people would actually know who it was!?). The reason that we covered those stories was because it called into question why so many people are getting busted for marijuana in a town that is barely large enough to have a post office? Essentially, there has to be more to the story than a simple marijuana bust, such as highlighting the bust in order to help the person being charged for a harmless act. I don’t care about a story of someone trying to smuggle 600 pounds of brick weed into New York for greedy purposes, and I’m not sure why anyone else who is pro-marijuana would care about such a story…feel free to disagree with me in the comments section.

If you want to read about marijuana busts, just go to Google News and search for marijuana. I am on the hunt for marijuana and cannabis information on Google News daily, and I assure you that 90% of stories you will see are about marijuana busts and raids. If you want to learn about marijuana activism, laws, entertainment, tips, videos, etc than you are in the right place!
